Reindeer on the River

Reindeer on the River promises a cheerful afternoon of entertainment showcasing several VIP guests – two live reindeer and Santa! Scheduled to coincide with The Annual Magnificent Mile Lights Festival^®presented by BMO Harris Bank on Saturday, November 17, 2012, Reindeer on the River is complimentary to all visitors and will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Riverwalk at Trump Chicago. Adjacent to the Magnificent Mile, the Riverwalk is accessible via both the Wrigley Building breezeway and Wabash Avenue and allows for pedestrian traffic directly along the Chicago River.

Throughout the afternoon, guests will enjoy magical opportunities for meet-and-greets and photos with the reindeer and Santa, holiday-themed takeaways for children, celebratory music, hot cider and cocoa, and seasonal sweet treats available for purchase created by Executive Pastry Chef Patrick Fahy. Event attendees will enjoy a live, 30-minute a capella performance by the award-winning Saint Luke’s Choir, under the direction of Choirmaster Andrew Lewis, at 3:30 p.m. Comprised of both children and adults, the choir will perform traditional holiday songs in four-part harmony. Those in attendance into early evening will also enjoy prime views of the fireworks spectacular over the Chicago River, officially marking the launch of Chicago’s holiday season. All proceeds benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Ride the Gingerbread Express

Also beginning Saturday, November 17, guests at Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago will be transported to a holiday wonderland in the Gingerbread Express. For the first time this year and open throughout the holiday season, the property has designated one special elevator traveling up to the award-winning restaurant, Sixteen, dressed to the nines in everyone’s favorite holiday indulgences – gingerbread and candy canes. Conceptualized by Executive Pastry Chef Patrick Fahy and team, guests will enter the Express through four-foot high candy canes, to be greeted by the sweet aromas of the season, celebratory holiday music, and more than 1100 gingerbread bricks made especially by the pastry team. They can peek through a window box featuring a snow-covered Alpine Valley, and high above, witness an active train set and a candy cane and gingerbread-covered ceiling. The Gingerbread Express is sure to be the most spirited ride of the season!
