Two Resorts In One
TradeWinds Island Grand guests share amenities with its neighboring sister property – Guy Harvey Outpost, a TradeWinds Beach Resort. Guests at each individual resort also have complete charging privileges at both properties.
Location St. Pete Beach, Florida
Located just 30 minutes from Tampa International Airport and 25 minutes from the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport, the resort sits along a strand of sugary white beach directly on the Gulf of Mexico. St. Pete Beach was also recently voted #1 beach destination in the USA by TripAdvisor.
Special Setting
The Grand Palm Colonnade – Even indoors, guests are treated to tropical delights, such as this lush, 8,000 square foot garden atrium lined with two parallel rows of eight, 23-foot majestic,
palm trees, specially created for the TradeWinds Island Grand.
Winding Waterways – The resort is laced with a signature look of meandering, tropical waterways bordered by abundant vegetation and inhabited by white swans, Japanese Koi and native Florida waterfowl. Guests can wind their way through the resort area via paddleboat.
Family Fun
Splash Island Water Park is a 20,000-square-foot water park and playground floating in the Gulf of Mexico just 60 feet off the resort’s sandy shoreline. A perfect accompaniment to the popular three-story High Tide Slide on the beach, the water park offers more than 11 fun-filled features – from jumping and climbing, to relaxing and sunning.
The RedBeard Pirate Show lands at the TradeWinds very own “Pirate Island” each week. Offered free to guests, the likeable pirate spins tall tales and conducts a sing along of memorable tunes for children and adults alike.
TradeWinds Island Grand was named as one of the 2012 “Top North American Family Resorts” by ResortsandLodges.com and was also included in the 2008 (Ninth Edition) of “100 Best Family Resorts in America. St. Pete Beach was recently recognized as the nation’s “Best Family Beach” by Parents magazine.
Fido and Fluffy
A select number of newly-renovated pet-friendly suites are available at the Island Grand for furry family members wanting to join the fun. The resorts Pet Play Zone features doggie drinking fountains, umbrellas for shade, doggie rinse and drying station with towels, owner sitting area, fire hydrants, and more. The Pet Play Zone is the only area on property where dogs can be unleashed. A special dog walk area has also been identified, set along the property’s meandering waterways and beachfront dunes, and even skirts by a hammock for some snooze time. A complimentary Doggie Accessory Center stocked with dishes, leashes, toys and towels, for use during the furry friend’s stay, is also available. Guests wanting to treat their pet to some extra-special service can order from the pet-only room service menu, including Fido Fajitas, Mutt Meat Loaf, gourmet cat food and special treat packs. In addition, “Fido’s Fabulous Adventure” package is available year-round for TradeWinds furry friends. Pet walking and pet sitting services are available upon request.
Guest Accommodations
584 deluxe guest rooms, including 377 hotel and parlor rooms, 200 suites and 6 penthouse and hospitality suites.
All guest rooms and suites feature refrigerators, microwaves, dishware, toasters, coffee maker with daily complimentary coffee, stocked mini-bar, hair dryers, lighted makeup mirrors, irons and ironing boards, high-speed wireless Internet access, in-room safe, pay-per-view movies and cable TV with premium channels.
Handicapped and pet-friendly rooms are also available.
All guest rooms at the Island Grand are non-smoking.
The guest rooms at the Island Grand recently received a complete face lift. The rooms reflect a more upscale look with custom-made dark wood furniture and décor reminiscent of a classic British West Indies plantation. Carpet was replaced and new natural stone travertine was added in lieu of floor tile. The rooms received flat screen HD televisions and detailed and unique nature-themed artwork. The color palette throughout the rooms reflect the classic feel of the tropics with cool sage greens and warm orange and gold tones, merging the personality of the rooms with the recent meeting space renovation.
Green Rooms
The TradeWinds Island Grand is a designated Two Palm Certified Green Lodge by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The property was recognized for their efforts in conserving natural resources. The voluntary, non-regulatory Florida Green Lodging Program works with the lodging industry to reduce waste and minimize pollution. Thanks to the addition of the resort’s beachfront amber lighting, in 2008 the TradeWinds saw its first turtle hatching on its beach in more than 28 years.
