The City of Chicago announces Juicebox Winter and Spring 2019 Schedule

The free music series starts Friday, January 4, 2019, and continues through May

Chicago, IL, 2018-Dec-11 — /Travel PR News/ — The popular free Juicebox Presented by Lifeway Foods will entertain and educate young children and their families with a schedule of music, dance and performances at the Chicago Cultural Center (78 E. Washington St.) and the Garfield Park Conservatory (300 N. Central Park Ave.).

With its engaging performances in a kid-friendly setting, the free-admission Juicebox programs are geared toward the “stroller set” and enjoyable for the whole family. Children will experience a diverse range of artistic and educational presentations, with hosts regularly inviting youngsters to move, dance and otherwise interact with performers.

The winter and spring program begins on Friday, January 4, and will continue on the first and third Friday of each month at the Chicago Cultural Center (78 E. Washington St.) and following Saturday of each month at the Garfield Park Conservatory (300 N. Central Park Ave.) through May. All performances take place from 11–11:45am unless otherwise noted.

Laura Doherty

A Chicago favorite, Laura Doherty acoustically rocks kids’ world with breezy, folk-pop tunes from her multi-award winning recordings. Her performances also feature her adorable puppet friends Jazzasaurus, Muddy Puddles and Domingo the Flamingo. This upbeat, interactive concert will have kids dancing and clapping along to Doherty’s original catchy tunes.

Duke Otherwise

With his guitar, tap shoes, and distinct baritone, Duke Otherwise performs a hilarious, charming and interactive musical program for all ages.  From Madison, Wisconsin, Duke’s original songs are bursting with clever wordplay and fun ideas relatable to both kids and adults.  Be ready to dance, laugh, volunteer and have your spontaneous suggestion be added to the show!

Jabberwocky Marionettes

Jabberwocky Marionettes is a mother daughter puppet company featuring Lolly Extract and Amber Marsh. Together they have created original productions and events with the Chicago Park District, the Chicago Public Libraries, the Arts In The Dark Parade, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and the Field Museum to name a few.

Tunes with Tim

Chicago kiddie rocker Ted Brednup uses his wide repertoire of classic songs–from nursery rhymes to Beatles tunes–to inspire dancing and singing while teaching the basics of music including rhythm and tempo, melody and harmony.

Little Miss Ann

Get ready to clap and sing along as Little Miss Ann and her band play upbeat and interactive originals. Chicago’s Ann Torralba, best known as Little Miss Ann, is an award-winning kids musician, former Chicago Public School teacher and instructor at the Old Town School of Folk Music, who has performed across the country from Lollapalooza to SXSW, and been featured on WXRT Local Anesthetic, Sirius XM Kids Place Live and more.

Jodi Koplin & the Jigglejam Band

Get ready to wiggle, jiggle and giggle as you sing and dance along with Jodi Koplin & the Jigglejam Band. Their engaging style and catchy tunes spark imagination, promoting self-esteem while silliness abounds. Via a wide range of musical styles from folk to rock, country to calypso, boogie to blues, the Jigglejam Band will keep the whole audience jammin’ along!

Stacy Buehler

Stacy Buehler loves to make music with young children, and her live shows include upbeat traditional tunes, peppered with lively originals. Part of the children’s music world for the past 20 years including two albums under the name Stacymusic, you can catch her performances at places like the Chicago Children’s Museum and Millennium Park’s Family Fun Festival.

Halau i Ka Pono

Learn more about Hula – the Hawaian dace expressing all that we see, hear, taste and feel. With Halau i Ka Pono, the Hula School of Chicago. Started in 2009 to share indigenous Hawaiian culture and stories through the joy of dance, the school teaches hula, Hawaiian mythology, cultural values and history at beginner level classes for children and adults.

Mr. Dave Music

Mr. Dave Music brings the joy of music into the lives of children, families and adults with a warm educational experience. The Wicker Park location offers a schedule of music and yoga classes, private lessons, birthday parties and “baby raves.”
