TAT Uses Gastech 2026 to Pitch Thailand’s Wellness, Low-Carbon and MICE Appeal

At Bangkok’s four-day global energy gathering, Thailand’s tourism authority is taking its “Healing is the New Luxury” campaign directly to international business leaders, investors and event delegates.

Tourism Authority of Thailand showcase for Gastech 2026 in Bangkok

TAT is using Gastech 2026 at BITEC to present Thai wellness, culture and low-carbon travel experiences to an international business audience while promoting Thailand’s MICE capabilities.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • TAT is presenting “Power of Journey: Healing is the New Luxury” at Gastech 2026, held from 14–17 September at BITEC in Bangkok.
  • The tourism showcase combines wellness, cultural demonstrations, visual destination storytelling and TAT’s “20 Low Carbon Lifestyles” travel routes.
  • TAT says Gastech brings more than 50,000 energy professionals from over 150 countries, giving Thailand direct exposure to an international business and decision-maker audience.
  • The activation supports TAT’s wider effort to position Thailand for quality leisure travel as well as international meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions.

Thailand is using one of Bangkok’s biggest international business gatherings this week to market more than conference facilities. At Gastech 2026, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is putting wellness, culture and lower-impact travel in front of a global energy audience, turning the four-day trade event into a destination-marketing platform for both leisure travel and the international MICE sector.

Gastech is running from 14 to 17 September at BITEC in Bangkok, dates and venue confirmed by the official event programme. TAT says the gathering is expected to bring more than 50,000 energy professionals from over 150 countries and an exhibition of 1,000 companies, giving the tourism authority access to corporate leaders, investors and other decision-makers already travelling to Thailand for business.

The scale figures are being promoted by TAT as part of its Gastech tourism activation. Gastech’s own current event pages display different headline totals in different sections, but consistently position the Bangkok edition as a major international meeting point for the energy industry. For Thailand’s visitor economy, the significance lies less in the precise attendance count than in the concentration of international delegates spending several days in Bangkok.

Taking a leisure campaign into a business-event setting

TAT’s theme at the show is “Power of Journey: Healing is the New Luxury”, an extension of the tourism authority’s broader effort to reposition luxury around wellbeing, meaningful experiences and connection with place rather than only high-end accommodation or consumption.

The campaign has been visible across Thailand’s 2026 tourism promotion. Earlier this year, TAT used “Healing is the New Luxury” at major travel-industry events and wellness initiatives, including Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2026 and an August surf-and-wellness programme in Phuket and Phang-nga. Bringing the same message into Gastech broadens the audience beyond dedicated travel buyers and media.

That crossover is central to the MICE opportunity. International conferences do not end at the exhibition-hall doors: delegates also use hotels, restaurants, transport, wellness services and attractions, and may extend business trips for leisure or return later with family. TAT is therefore using Gastech not only to showcase Thailand as the host destination, but to give visiting executives a sample of experiences available beyond their meetings.

Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said the event gives the organisation an opportunity to engage directly with global leaders and businesses while strengthening Thailand’s profile for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions. She said the campaign is intended to show how wellness, food, culture, arts and local ways of life can add greater value to a journey.

Thai tea, puppetry, massage and Muay Thai inside the exhibition

The TAT booth is structured around several layers of destination storytelling. “Feel All the Feelings” uses visual material to introduce Thai destinations, people and lifestyles, while “20 Low Carbon Lifestyles” highlights travel routes that connect nature, communities and local experiences with more responsible forms of tourism.

The most hands-on element is “4 Senses of Authentic Heritage”, a rotating programme built around four recognisable parts of Thai culture. Visitors can encounter Thai tea through its flavours, aromas and preparation; the Joe Louis Puppet Show through traditional small-puppet performance; Thai massage through techniques and herbal aromas; and Muay Thai through demonstrations of movement, striking and athletic skill.

TAT is also distributing Thai herbal inhalers as souvenirs and staging additional cultural activities throughout the show. Taken together, the programme gives a business-event audience short, accessible encounters with tourism products that would normally be experienced elsewhere in the country.

Low-carbon travel meets an energy-transition audience

The inclusion of TAT’s “20 Low Carbon Lifestyles” concept gives the activation an obvious connection to the host event. Gastech’s programme covers natural gas, LNG, hydrogen, electrification, low-carbon solutions and AI for energy, while its conference agenda is centred on energy security and transition. The 2026 exhibition floorplan includes dedicated low-carbon and electrification areas alongside the event’s established gas and LNG sectors.

TAT is not presenting tourism as part of that technical agenda, but the responsible-travel element allows Thailand to speak to an audience already focused on decarbonisation and efficiency. It also supports the tourism authority’s wider shift toward “quality” travel, where visitor value, local benefits and environmental considerations increasingly sit alongside arrival numbers in destination marketing.

Bangkok’s hosting role is part of the tourism message

Gastech 2026 is hosted by Thailand’s Ministry of Energy, with the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) also promoting the event through its business-events channels. TCEB’s event listing identifies BITEC as the venue and describes Gastech as a global gathering spanning natural gas, LNG, hydrogen, climate technologies and AI for energy.

For Bangkok, hosting an event of that international reach serves two tourism functions at once. It demonstrates the city’s ability to accommodate a large specialist conference and exhibition, while placing thousands of overseas business visitors within one of Thailand’s main gateways for dining, shopping, wellness and onward leisure travel.

TAT’s presence inside the show makes that connection explicit. Instead of waiting for delegates to discover Thailand after conference hours, the tourism authority is bringing destination experiences into the business environment itself — using massage, performance, food culture and low-carbon itineraries to turn an energy-industry visit into a wider introduction to the country.
