Swissport: EuroAirport Skyview Lounge at Basel-Mulhouse Airport awarded “Priority Pass European Lounge of the Year” for the fourth time

Opfikon, Switzerland, 2014-6-12 — /Travel PR News/ — EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg and Swissport International Ltd. (Swissport), the world’s leading provider of ground and cargo handling services to the aviation industry, today announced that the EuroAirport Skyview Lounge at Basel-Mulhouse Airport has been awarded “Priority Pass European Lounge of the Year” for the fourth time. Owned by EuroAirport and operated by Swissport, the Skyview Lounge stretches out over 1,700 square metres and three levels, caters for business and leisure travellers alike, and comfortably accommodates up to 200 guests. Voted for by Priority Pass members, the award is recognition of the individual touches and investment in customer experience put in place by EuroAirport and Swissport.

Located in the only bi-national Airport in the world, the lounge reflects the craftsmanship of Swiss and French architecture and design. The unique vast glass dome brings natural light into the heart of the lounge where exotic palm trees surround a soothing pool of water. This, together with the luxurious furnishings, creates a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. A wide terrace offers a uniquely close view of the busy airport runway and apron and serves as an exclusive smoking zone. Well-known artists from France and Germany have used the lounge to exhibit their artwork.

With regular surveys amongst its customers, Swissport makes sure it always adapts its services to their needs, as for example, the introduction of a work zone with printers, computer terminals and conference facilities is proof of. Customer feedback has also helped to shape an international food offering, where local and seasonal products play an important role. Other services include free WiFi as well as showers in case customers wish to freshen up before their flight.

Jürg Rämi, Director EuroAirport, emphasizes: “We took over the lounge in October 2012 and rebranded it EuroAirport Skyview Lounge because of the fantastic view from its unique 360-degree glass dome. We also invested 200,000 euros in refurbishment work over several months, renewing the original palm trees, treating the 1,300 square metres parquet flooring with natural oil and introducing LED lighting. It was important for us to continue to offer a high standard of lounge service, improving passenger comfort and extending the catering offer. A further special feature of the EuroAirport Skyview Lounge is that it is now open to all passengers independently of their carrier or booking class. We are absolutely delighted to receive this award, which is the result of our joint partnership with Swissport.”

Georges Marquis, Manager Sales Services & Lounge at Swissport Basel, comments: “In such a demanding environment as the airline industry, investing in our visitors by listening to their demands and needs has enabled us to provide top and tailored customer service, while taking into consideration the cultural differences of our clients. This award is the return on investment and a gratification to our dedicated team, which is always at hand to assist with any queries our guests might have. Our employees regularly attend trainings to improve their skills.”

The award winning lounge, which is owned by EuroAirport and operated by Swissport, is part of Swissport’s global portfolio of owned and operated lounges which includes Aspire Lounges, Servisair Lounges and Swissport Lounges throughout Europe and North America.
