The Village at Squaw Valley® Hosts Annual Welcome to Winter Party, Featuring a Shop Small Event, Discounts for Ikon Pass Holders and a Can’t-Miss Winter Fashion Show

Olympic Valley, Calif., 2018-Nov-20 — /Travel PR News/ — The annual Welcome to Winter party at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows returns with a day of fashion, entertainment and fun. The Village at Squaw Valley will come alive with local DJs, beer benefit stations, raffles, giveaways for shopping the Village’s small businesses and an appearance by Olympian Jonny Moseley. Check out the new styles for the season at the annual Plumpjack Sport Fashion Show, and then show your Ikon Pass for discounts on your favorite fashions found in Village stores. The Welcome to Winter event will take place Saturday, Nov. 24 from 12-6 p.m.

The Welcome to Winter party is also an official Small Business Saturday event. Small Business Saturday falls on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and is a way to promote small, locally-owned businesses at the start of holiday shopping season. Shoppers at small businesses like Gallery Keoki, Mind Play toys and games, Lather & Fizz Bath Boutique and more will be rewarded with a gift and entered to win a gift basket of Tahoe-made products.

Village shops will also be holding special events for shoppers, like a tasting of Patagonia’s Provisions food products. Select stores will also have $2 beers for sale, and 100 percent of proceeds will benefit a number of local non-profits, including High Fives FoundationTahoe Food HubProtect Our Winters and the Shane McConkey Foundation. Bring your Ikon Pass to Wanderlust Yoga Studio for free drop-in classes all day.

The North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce will be on-site to celebrate Small Business Saturday with a pop-up shop featuring North Lake Tahoe swag and local goods for purchase. The Chamber will also provide complimentary gift-wrapping from 12-6 p.m. in the Events Plaza.

November also marks the return of the Shop, Dine & Ski Free program at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows. Guests who spend $750 at Village shops and restaurants between now and Dec. 24 will receive a free, unrestricted lift ticket for the 2018-19 season. There’s no better way to shop for holiday gifts.

Back by popular demand is the annual Plumpjack Sport Fashion Show. With the runway at center stage in the Village Events Plaza, the fashion show will feature new styles from Village shops, including Plumpjack Sport, The North Face, Oakley and more. Olympian Jonny Moseley will serve as MC for the event, getting the crowd excited for winter with the signature stoke he brings to the microphone. Moseley will stick around after the show to sign posters for fans, and later in the evening, catch him on the big screen in Warren Miller’s new movie, “Face of Winter,” showing in the Olympic Village Lodge.

The Welcome to Winter party will also kick off the holiday season with the a special lighting of the Christmas tree in The Village at Squaw Valley. It’s a peek at what’s to come in December during Merry Days Holly Nights, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows’ annual celebration of the holiday season, with more than two weeks of spirited events and activities from Dec. 14-31 that will put even the biggest Scrooge in the holiday spirit.
