Sheremetyevo Demonstrated Exceptional Growth Rates based on Seven Months’ Worth of Statistics

2012-08-16 — /travelprnews.com/ — Sheremetyevo International Airport conducted a review of its operations for July and seven months in 2012. The number of passengers served from the beginning of the year rose by 17.5% compared with the same period in 2011 and amounted to 14 million 556 thousand passengers.

In January—July 2012, passenger traffic on international airlines (IALs) grew by 18.1%, to 9 million 497 thousand people, while on domestic airlines (DALs) it grew by 16.2% and amounted to 5 million 59 thousand air travelers.

The number of passengers served in July 2012 increased by 13% to 2 million 786 thousand. At the same time, passenger traffic on IALs in July rose by 17.2% and amounted to 1 million 889 thousand people, while on DALs it grew by 5%, to 897 passengers.

The foreign destinations that were in highest demand over the seven months of 2012 were Paris, Antalya, Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, Prague, Istanbul and Beijing, while the most popular domestic destinations were Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Sochi, Krasnodar, Vladivostok and Rostov-on-Don.

In January—July 2012, Sheremetyevo Airport conducted 130,560 take-off and landing operations (TLOs) which was 10.4% more than in the same period in 2011. The quantity of TLO in July grew by 5.2%, to 21,128.

According to the data of the ACI EUROPE rating, Sheremetyevo Airport became a leader in passenger traffic growth (13.7%) among European airports with passenger traffic from 10 to 25 million passengers per year.
