Shannon Airport hosted 170 national school pupils for the sixth annual Schools Band Spectacular

Shannon, Ireland, 2019-Mar-08 — /Travel PR News/ — Shannon Airport was stirring up the atmosphere yesterday ahead of the big rugby weekend as over 170 national school pupils had the terminal building resounding to the strains of Ireland’s Call and Amhrán na bhFiann.

Five days out from the crucial clash with France, students from Ennis, St. Fiannachtas (Sixmilebridge) and Milford national schools descended on the airport terminal for the sixth annual Schools Band Spectacular.

They treated passengers and guests to a one-hour ensemble that climaxed with the anthems the climax and fully enjoyed by passengers and guests alike.

Said Shannon Airport Managing Director Andrew Murphy: “This is the sixth year we have had the School Bands Spectacular and it’s something that we really look forward to.  It’s a fixture in our year and another opportunity for us to deepen our relationship with the community.

“There’s always great excitement among children when they get to Shannon Airport but everyone had a ball.  It’s a fun day for us as much as it is for the kids. The event is all about providing an opportunity for children to play music for and with their peers and there were plenty of passengers and guests enjoying it all as well.”

Each year the schools involved attempt to find a ‘spectacular’ location in which to play.  Former venues include Limerick Concert Hall, Glór in Ennis, Bunratty Folk Park, Glenstal Abbey and Thomond Park.  This is the 6th year that Shannon Airport has been chosen by the organisers.
