S7 Airlines to welcome Embraer 170-LR aircrafts to its fleet in 2017

The airline launches the interregional air transportations development programme

MOSCOW, Russia, 2016-Dec-28 — /Travel PR News/ — S7 Airlines, oneworld® global aviation alliance member, is going to add Embraer 170-LR aircrafts to its fleet in 2017. A new type of aircrafts is delivered to carry out the interregional air transportations development programme.

17 Embraer 170-LR aircrafts lease agreement is executed with GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) leasing company. S7 Airlines will be the first operator of this type of aircrafts in Russia. The first aircrafts are expected to be delivered to the S7 Airlines fleet in spring, 2017, and all 17 aircrafts will be received by the airline during 2017.

The aircrafts are designed to carry 78 passengers in a spacious and comfortable cabin of economy class.

“The receipt of Embraer 170-LR aircrafts will make it possible to develop interregional air transportations in active way. We believe in a huge potential of this segment. At present, the air transportations are focused in Moscow and very often passengers, travelling from cities of the Urals to the Far East, have to fly with connection in capital. The first Embraer aircrafts will be stationed in the Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport, which is conveniently located to bond the regions more efficiently. The new type of the aircrafts will allow us to launch the flights from small and remote towns where it is impossible to use medium-range aircrafts”, — Vladimir Objedkov, S7 Airlines General Director, noted.

“The delivery of E170 aircrafts to the S7 Airlines fleet is a result of thorough analysis of the airline’s increasing demands, — Alec Berger, GECAS President and General Director, noted. – Embraer 170 aircraft is highly cost-effective and perfectly suits for S7 Airlines domestic air transportations development”.

“We welcome S7 Airlines as a member of a growing family of Embraer E-Jets aircrafts operators, — Aryen Mayer, Embraer Civil Aviation Commercial Director, says. – We are very glad to see that E170 aircrafts will be operated by one of the largest Russian airlines, extending the flight network across Russia”.

Within the programme S7 Airlines is planning to develop regional flights firstly from Novosibirsk and Moscow. Embraer aircrafts will be used both on the existing destinations and new regional ones. For example, new flights are planning to be launched from Novosibirsk to Krasnoyarsk, Surgut, Nizhnevartovsk, Novy Urengoy, Chelyabinsk, Perm, to the cities of Kazakhstan, and looking forward, to the remote cities such as Kyzyl, Noyabrsk, Khanty-Mansiysk and others. Residents of these cities will have an opportunity to travel on board the modern major Russian airline aircrafts.

The airline is preparing to receive a new type of aircrafts: new pilots are hired to fly the Embraer 170 aircrafts. The first groups of pilots and stewards are already taking training courses. In total, about 50 flight crews are expected to be put into service till the end of 2017.
