Ryanair increases Sun flights this summer from Shannon

2013-02-12 — /travelprnews.com/ — Tuesday, 11 February 2013:  Shannon Airport has today welcomed the decision by Ryanair to add extra flights to both its Palma and Malaga services during the peak summer months in a further indication of the return to growth at the airport.

The extra Ryanair flights are the latest addition to Shannon’s European summer sun services, which this year will also include a new service to the popular Portuguese destination of Faro and a doubling of existing services to Bodrum, Turkey. They also come on top of new services this summer to Philadelphia, Chicago and Glasgow.

The Ryanair additions will see the airline increase its Palma service from two to three flights weekly from May to October, when it will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Ryanair will also increase flights to Malaga during the month of July to three times weekly, with the extra flight on Thursdays. The airline will continue to operate twice weekly to Malaga during the peak travel season with services on Tuesdays and Sundays.

Welcoming the news Shannon Airport Director Mary Considine said: “This is a welcome boost for the many thousands of people from the West of Ireland that travel for annual sun holidays.  The increase in frequencies on both routes means that holidaymakers now have greater flexibility in planning their holidays from their local airport.

“With these additional Ryanair services, the new Faro route, the doubling of Bodrum flights and new services into Glasgow, Chicago ,and Philadelphia, we are looking at appreciable growth on our summer services this year, which is very much welcome for the airport and particularly our passengers..”
