2012-10-12 — /travelprnews.com/ — It’s time to rock, roll and run through historic San Antonio for the annual Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & ½ Marathon benefiting Susan G. Komen, Sunday, November 11, 2012. Ideal fall temperatures and a flat, scenic course make this event perfect for runners and walkers of all abilities.
Live bands at every mile and spirited cheer squads will entertain participants in true rock-star fashion. The course will run through historic districts, across the River Walk, past 18th-century Spanish missions (including the Alamo) and end at the Alamodome with a finish-line fiesta featuring Grammy-nominated singer Jo Dee Messina. The finish line festival is free and open to the public. Other marathon options include the Two-Person Half Marathon Relay, the Wheelchair Invitational and the Bike Tour, which will cover nearly 22 miles of the marathon course and take place prior to the full and half marathon race.
Marathon events begin at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center on November 9thand 10thwith the Health & Fitness Expo, which is free and open to the public. For two days, over 60 exhibitors will offer free samples, showcase the latest in running gear, sports apparel, health and nutritional information, and much more. Participants can pick up last-minute race essentials, race numbers, swag bags and t-shirts. Families can also join the excitement by participating in the ING KiDS ROCK San Antonio, a non-timed, non-competitive event for children in grades K – 7.
