Protected Travel Services confirmed as ATOL franchise body

2012-10-4 — /travelprnews.com/ — The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is today pleased to announce that Protected Travel Services (PTS) has been confirmed as a franchise body under the ATOL financial protection scheme.

The confirmation offers travel organisers an additional option for complying with the ATOL Regulations 2012, with businesses also able to operate under their own ATOL or join an Accredited Body. The move is also good news for consumers, who will benefit from the financial protection now offered by PTS through the franchise arrangement.

The CAA thanks PTS for their co-operation throughout the application process.

Notes to Editors
1. The ATOL Regulations 2012 came into force on 30 April 2012. Key elements of the regulations include the introduction of ‘Flight-Plus’ sales into the scheme; the requirement for ATOL holders to have written agency agreements with their agents; and travel businesses to provide ATOL Certificates to consumers with any ATOL-protected sale.
2. The CAA is the UK’s specialist aviation regulator. Its regulatory activities range from making sure that the aviation industry meets the highest technical and operational safety standards to preventing holidaymakers from being stranded abroad or losing money because of tour operator insolvency.
