Patina Maldives, Fari Islands is broadening the idea of a resort stay this autumn with a programme that moves between contemporary art, junior football, guest-chef pop-ups and visiting wellness practitioners, giving travellers a reason to plan around specific cultural and experiential dates rather than simply around room availability.

The latest edition of the resort’s Perpetual Journey programme runs across the final months of 2026 and into January 2027. Highlights include the inaugural Patina Art Residency with London-based multidisciplinary artist Shezad Dawood, a five-day junior football camp led by FC Bayern Munich coach Jonas Caryot, a week of dining collaborations led by Hong Kong’s Yardbird team and a Diwali programme bringing chef Atul Kochhar, mixologist Giancarlo Mancino and Bangalore-based producer and DJ Sakré to the island.

The schedule builds on Patina’s strategy of using rotating creative, culinary and wellbeing talent to turn a Maldives beach stay into a more structured calendar of experiences. The resort, in North Malé Atoll, is the flagship property of Patina Hotels & Resorts and forms part of Capella Hotel Group.

Art residencies put Maldivian and international artists in front of guests

The programme begins with Maldivian artist Aishath Shuaila, whose residency at the Fari Art Atelier runs from 22 September to 10 October in collaboration with Art Gallery Malé. Rather than presenting a conventional exhibition, the atelier will function as Shuaila’s working studio, with guests able to observe her process through open-studio sessions, workshops and informal exchanges.

Her work draws on the patterns and textures of Maldivian flora and fauna, reflecting a background that combines art with an interest in nature and sustainable development. The residency follows earlier 2026 programmes with Ahmed Khaleel and Hassan Najih.

From 18 October to 8 November, the focus shifts to Dawood, winner of the inaugural Patina Art Residency. His practice connects art, science and environmental research, and the Maldives residency will involve fieldwork around the island’s marine ecology.

Dawood’s project is linked to the residency theme “Fluid Worlds,” which examines shifting boundaries between cultures, ideas and natural systems. For travellers, the format provides access not only to finished art but to the research and creative process behind it.

A five-day FC Bayern camp targets young travellers

Families visiting in late October will have a very different reason to choose the resort. From 25 to 29 October, a junior football camp for players aged six to 17 will be led by FC Bayern Munich coach Jonas Caryot.

The programme is designed around small-group coaching and up to five hours of football activity per day, with two rest days incorporated around the training schedule. In a resort context, the camp gives families a structured activity that can sit alongside beach time, watersports and the wider Fari Islands experience.

It also reflects a broader luxury-resort trend toward branded academies and specialist youth programming, where family travel is increasingly shaped by activities that are meaningful to children and teenagers rather than by kids’ clubs alone.

Yardbird brings a Hong Kong dining collaboration to the Maldives

Food becomes the focus from 6 to 10 October when Hong Kong-based Yardbird brings its travelling Yakido concept to Patina Maldives. The programme includes two nights at Brasa and a series of additional collaborations across the resort.

Among them is an 8 October event with ALWAYS FRIENDS BY ALWAYS JOY, a Veli Bar pop-up built around Max Levy’s MR. IKO pizza project and strength and mobility sessions led by Lindsay Jang.

The format turns the resort’s dining calendar into a sequence of short-lived events rather than a static restaurant offer. That can be particularly attractive to repeat Maldives visitors who already know the destination’s traditional resort model and are looking for a more specific reason to return.

Diwali combines Indian cuisine, cocktails and electronic music

From 7 to 9 November, Patina’s “Moments of Connection” Diwali programme will bring together three guests from different parts of the food, drink and music worlds.

Chef Atul Kochhar will bring the culinary identity of his London restaurant Kanishka to Helios for a menu inspired by contemporary Indian regional cooking. Kochhar is widely associated with the development of modern Indian fine dining in the UK and was the first Indian chef to receive a Michelin star.

Giancarlo Mancino, known for the SeiBellissimi bottled cocktail range, will return to the resort for guest shifts and cocktail experiences. Music will come from Bangalore-based Sakré, whose work blends electronic production with ambient textures and South Indian cinematic influences.

For a resort audience, the three-day format gives Diwali a broader cultural frame than a single dinner, combining cuisine, drinks and contemporary Indian sound across several touchpoints.

Wellness residencies extend through January 2027

The Perpetual Journey programme also includes a rolling series of visiting practitioners under the Patina Resonance banner.

Jasmin Küster is in residence from 14 September to 14 October with a programme built around aquatic bodywork, Chi Nei Tsang abdominal massage, fascia-focused somatic treatments and other forms of holistic bodywork.

From 15 October to 15 November, Japanese wellness practitioner Minako Saito will offer her Platinum Ritual Series, combining thermal therapy with relaxation, facial and women’s wellness treatments.

Thalia Jones then returns from 15 December to 15 January 2027 with guided breathwork and holistic therapies focused on body awareness and personal wellbeing.

These residencies give the resort a more changing wellness offer than a conventional spa menu, with specific practitioners available only during set travel windows.

Programming becomes part of the reason to choose a resort

Patina Maldives has increasingly used art, food and visiting talent as part of its identity. The official resort website positions the island around design, art, dining, wellness and community as much as accommodation, while its dedicated art programme has included permanent works and earlier residencies alongside the new Shezad Dawood initiative.

The resort is also part of the wider Fari Islands development in North Malé Atoll and is reached from Velana International Airport by speedboat or seaplane. Current resort information lists the speedboat journey at about 50 minutes.

Rates supplied for the new Perpetual Journey season start from US$1,430++ per night, including daily breakfast at Portico, subject to travel dates and availability.

For travellers planning around the autumn and festive-season calendar, the value of the programme lies in its timing: each residency, camp or pop-up has a defined window, making the choice of when to travel as important as the choice of where to stay.
