Oslo Airport reports excellent passenger numbers on its 14th anniversary

2012-10-11 — /travelprnews.com/ — Oslo Airport turned 14 years old on Monday 8th October, celebrating its anniversary with outstanding passenger statistics for September.

The number of passengers travelling via Oslo Airport in September totalled 2 039 604, up 66 332 or 3.4% from September 2011, setting a new passenger record for the year’s ninth month.

The number of passengers on international flights increased by 64 038 (6.2%), while traffic on domestic flights increased by 2 294 (0.4%) passengers.

“It is (-) gratifying to report that we continue our positive trend of setting passenger records. And especially nice that we can announce it on Oslo Airport’s 14th anniversary,” says Vegar Gystad, Head of Media Relations.

Various factors account for the excellent September figures, Gystad points out.

“In early October, we noticed an upswing from during the fall holidays in many parts of Eastern Norway. We also continue to experience the effects of Norway’s decidedly rainy summer, which gives Norwegians a greater need to seek out the sun in warmer places before winter sets in.

Its worth mentioning that a total of 235 million passengers have travelled through Oslo Airport since it opened 14 years ago.

Passenger growth is up 5.1% so far this year. In august, aircraft movements totalled 20 968, 1.4% more than in 2011.

Among the ten main routes, Oslo-London saw the highest growth, with a 6.3% increase.
