Nebraska Tourism Commission announces 2013 tourism marketing grants

LINCOLN, NEB. 2013-03-19 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Nebraska Tourism Commission today (March 15, 2013) announced 23 tourism marketing grants totaling nearly $125,000 for entities across the state. Grant funds are used to promote attractions and activities in Nebraska.

“The grant program helps Nebraska communities spread the word about what Nebraska has to offer potential travelers,” said Nebraska Tourism Director Kathy McKillip. Funding for tourism marketing grants comes from revenue generated by the state lodging tax. Proposals came from 68 applicants requesting nearly $500,000 in funding.

Grant recipients include: 

• Lincoln’s Abbott Sports Complex: $6,000 for magazine advertising

• Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau: $7,500 for photo library enhancements

• Calamus Outfitters, Destination Central Nebraska Marketing Campaign: $9,385 for radio advertising

• Ravenna Economic Development Corporation’s Revamp MyRavenna: $4,500 for website enhancement

• Museum of Nebraska Art, Cultural Destination Kearney Marketing Campaign: $4,800 for radio and newspaper advertising

• Nebraska Association of Bed and Breakfasts, the NABB Way to Stay Awareness Campaign: $5,593.75 for photography, videography and website enhancements

• Brownville Concert Series: $3,900 for radio advertising

• Ord Area Chamber of Commerce, I Love Valley County Video: $7,750 for video production

• Friends of Lewis & Clark Bicentennial’s Welcome to Lewis & Clark Country Campaign: $10,000 for newspaper advertising

• Cherry County Tourism: $6,667 for website enhancements

• Southwest Nebraska Resource, Conservation and Development District’s promotion of Prairie Chicken Dance Tours: $3,515 for website development, brochures, banner advertising and magazine advertising

• Omaha’s Love of Art and Music Festival: $2,500 for television advertising

• Strategic Air & Space Museum ExploreBoard Marketing: $6,282 for ExploreBoards

• Boys Town’s Central Nebraska Family Focus Program: $9,601.62 for newspaper advertising, billboards and website enhancement

• Nebraska City Museum Association: $2,000 for brochures

• Burt County Economic Development, Marketing Summit Lake Recreation Area and Burt County: $2,025 for newspaper advertising and brochures

• Kearney Visitors Bureau: $10,000 for website development

• Kool-Aid Days 2013 Out-of-State Spring Marketing Campaign: $8,120 for billboards and digital advertising

• Gering’s Legacy of the Plains: $2,310 for logo design and website development

• Beatrice’s Homestead Days 2013: $3,000 for television advertising

• Burton’s Bend Music Festival in Holbrook: $2,500 for television advertising

• David City’s Bone Creek Museum of Agrarian Art Public Awareness Campaign: $5,000 for radio, television and newspaper advertising

• North Platte Convention and Visitors Bureau: $2,038 for marketing banners
