Navan’s acquisition of BoomPop moves an existing meetings-and-events partnership into full integration across travel, expense and event planning.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Navan has acquired BoomPop, moving a partnership announced earlier in 2026 into full ownership and integration.
  • BoomPop says its platform has supported events for approximately 250,000 people and has helped customers reduce event-booking costs by about 30% on average.
  • Navan is positioning the acquisition as a way to connect venue sourcing, attendee travel, budgets, contracts, payments and event operations in one system.
  • Navan said the transaction is expected to have no material impact on its previously issued financial guidance.

Corporate travel and event planning are moving closer together at Navan, which has acquired AI-powered meetings and events platform BoomPop after first integrating the company’s technology into its events offering earlier this year.

The deal gives Navan direct control of technology that spans venue and vendor sourcing, room blocks, contracts, payments and other event-planning workflows. For corporate travel buyers, the strategic significance lies in the company’s attempt to pull meetings and events into the same managed environment as transient business travel and expenses — an area Navan says still sees a large share of spending handled outside managed channels.

BoomPop, founded in 2023, says it has supported events for approximately 250,000 people at companies including Accenture, Amazon, Google, Salesforce and Shopify. The company also estimates that customers have reduced booking costs by approximately 30% on average across events ranging from small team gatherings to conferences involving thousands of attendees. Those savings figures are BoomPop’s own estimates rather than independently verified industry benchmarks.

From technology partnership to acquisition

The acquisition follows a partnership announced in February 2026, when Navan introduced advanced event functionality using BoomPop’s AI-driven venue sourcing and planning tools. At that stage, the companies described an integrated model combining venue sourcing, room blocks, event websites, RSVP management and total event cost visibility with Navan’s existing travel and expense capabilities.

Navan’s current Meetings and Events product now presents AI-assisted venue sourcing and negotiation alongside event shortlists, travel policies, approvals, budget tracking and managed event services. The company says its venue inventory covers more than 500,000 properties worldwide, while event travel can be tied to existing company policies and consolidated into a broader view of program costs.

For travel managers, that combination addresses one of the practical complications of meetings and events: attendee air and hotel bookings may sit inside a managed travel program while venue contracts, catering, production, transfers and onsite costs are handled through separate suppliers and spreadsheets. Navan’s strategy is to bring more of those workflows into one system rather than treating event travel as a standalone booking exercise.

Michael Sindicich, president of Navan, said fully integrating BoomPop’s team and technology is intended to help the company scale its meetings and events business and accelerate its product roadmap. Navan is pitching the combined platform as a single destination for travel, expense, payments, meetings and events.

Healey Cypher, BoomPop co-founder and CEO, said the companies’ earlier partnership demonstrated the value of connecting travel and event planning. BoomPop’s platform covers vendor sourcing, requests for proposals, guest management, event websites, rooming lists, communications, budgeting and AI-assisted planning.

A broader push into managed meetings spend

The acquisition also extends Navan’s wider consolidation strategy in corporate travel. In its September 9 announcement, the company pointed to previous integrations including Reed & Mackay, Comtravo, Tripeur and Smartrips as experience it expects to draw on while bringing BoomPop into the business.

Navan said the transaction is expected to have no material impact on its previously issued guidance. The company did not frame the deal as a standalone events play; instead, it positions BoomPop as part of a broader effort to connect business travel, spend management and in-person corporate gatherings through a single operating environment.

For travel buyers, the practical implication is a broader attempt to manage attendee travel and event operations together. Navan’s published product model combines travel policies, venue sourcing, budgets, payments and reporting, while the BoomPop acquisition brings the team and technology behind several of those event-planning functions directly into the company.
