Mytheresa, luxury fashion platform to open new logistics center at Leipzig/Halle Airport

The leading platform for luxury fashion Mytheresa has announced that it’ll be opening a new logistics center, directly at Leipzig/Halle Airport in Germany.

Leipzig, Germany, 2021-Oct-26 — /Travel PR News/ — It will be the company’s second one in addition to its headquarters in Munich. This is likely to create about 500 new jobs in the south-west of Leipzig/Halle Airport by the middle of 2023 and the figure may rise to as many as 1,000 at a later date. Proximity to the international cargo hub at Leipzig/Halle was the key to selecting the new base.

Götz Ahmelmann, CEO of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG, comments, “We’ve managed to successfully attract another innovative and dynamically growing e-commerce company to Leipzig/Halle Airport. This fits ideally with our strategy of becoming the leading logistics region in Europe. We’re the central focus and driving force in this region. Our airport is versatile and it’s booming. We’re providing growth momentum for the whole of Central Germany.”

The Intaurus corporate group, which is an investor, a developer and an administrator of industrial, logistical and commercial property, took over a 105.700 sqm plot from Flughafen Leipzig/Halle Airport and will start constructing a modern logistics building with 55,000 square metres of usable space right next to the airport at the beginning of 2022.

Leipzig/Halle Airport is the nucleus of a Central German logistics cluster, which is enjoying significant growth. Thanks to its road and rail links, the airport provides a reliable, modern and efficient gateway for cargo and passenger traffic to and from the growth markets in Eastern Europe, Asia and North America. It also offers keenly sought-after space for different lines of business – ranging from e-commerce to production and even warehousing.

Hartmut Vorjohann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Finance Minister in the Free State of Saxon, adds, “We’d like to give Mytheresa a warm welcome to Leipzig. The investments made at Leipzig/Halle Airport are paying off and we’re able to convince customers with our excellent infrastructure.

This is a positive and important signal for the economic development of the Central German region, which is undergoing structural change, and it demonstrates that the course that we’ve adopted is the correct one.”

Oliver Raigel, Managing Director of the Intaurus corporate group, says, “In order to support Mytheresa in its growth, we’ve been inspecting and pre-selecting the best sites across Germany, in addition to our and their home market in Munich. One central requirement for Mytheresa has been proximity to a cargo airport with international operations. As a result, the plot of land right next to Leipzig/Halle Airport was the most favourable proposition.”

Sebastian Dietzmann, COO von Mytheresa says: “We are very pleased to be able to serve customers around the world and here in Germany even more efficiently and quickly with thanks to the new logistics center directly at the airport in Leipzig. This is another logical step for the growth and globalization of Mytheresa. We can further improve our service level and the associated customer satisfaction while maintaining high quality standards.“

Hans-Wolfgang Niedermair, the founder and shareholder of the Intaurus corporate group, comments, “This project represents an enormous spurt in growth and efficiency for Mytheresa and it also creates additional value added and jobs for the region near the airport.”
