(NEWS) GENEVA, Switzerland, 2026-Aug-20 — /Travel PR News/ — MSC Cruises has revised part of its Winter 2027/2028 deployment, with changes affecting two key regions: the Western Mediterranean and the South Caribbean.
The update will see MSC World Europa remain in the Western Mediterranean instead of moving to the Middle East as previously planned, while new flagship MSC World Asia will be deployed in the South Caribbean for the season.
According to details released by MSC Cruises, MSC World Europa will operate seven-night Western Mediterranean itineraries with multiple embarkation ports, giving guests flexible access to one of the company’s core European cruising regions.
The ship is scheduled to call at some of the Mediterranean’s best-known port cities, including Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia, Messina and Valletta. The programme combines major cultural gateways with coastal destinations across Spain, France, Italy and Malta.
For MSC Cruises, keeping MSC World Europa in the Western Mediterranean gives the line a strong winter product in a region that remains familiar, accessible and popular with European and international travellers. The ship’s scale and onboard facilities also make it well suited to cooler-season Mediterranean cruising, where guests may place greater value on indoor spaces, dining, entertainment and family-friendly venues.
MSC World Europa features the open-air World Promenade, the World Galleria, speciality restaurants, lounges, bars and a wide range of activities for different age groups. Its continued Mediterranean deployment gives guests another winter season to experience the ship on shorter European itineraries.
The second major change places MSC World Asia in the South Caribbean, where the ship will operate seven- and 14-night itineraries. Embarkation will be available from Fort-de-France in Martinique, Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe and Bridgetown in Barbados.
The South Caribbean itineraries will include calls at Castries in Saint Lucia, St. George’s in Grenada, Philipsburg in St. Maarten, St. John’s in Antigua and Barbuda, Basseterre in Saint Kitts and Nevis, Roseau in Dominica, and Kingstown in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Deploying MSC World Asia in the South Caribbean gives the region one of MSC Cruises’ newest and most prominent ships. As the company’s new flagship, the vessel is expected to bring a larger-scale resort-style experience to warm-weather Caribbean cruising.
Onboard features will include the Cliffhanger over-water swing thrill ride, the largest Venchi chocolate experience at sea, family attractions, entertainment venues and expansive outdoor areas designed for sunshine destinations.
The change also affects guests already booked on certain Winter 2027/2028 sailings. MSC Cruises said guests booked on MSC World Europa in the Middle East, along with their travel partners, are being contacted directly with information about their options, including moving their booking to another sailing or requesting a full refund.
Guests booked on MSC World Asia in the Mediterranean or MSC Meraviglia in the South Caribbean for Winter 2027/2028 will have their bookings updated and will also be contacted directly regarding any individual changes.
Deployment changes of this kind are a normal part of long-range cruise planning, especially when cruise lines adjust capacity according to demand, guest preferences, port access and regional opportunities. For travellers, however, they can be significant, particularly when flights, holidays and wider itineraries are planned far in advance.
