LEADING EASTERN REGION MEP VISITS EASYJET AND LONDON LUTON AIRPORT

2012-08-22 — /travelprnews.com/ — easyJet, the UK’s largest airline and operator of Europe’s No.1 air transport network, today welcomed Vicky Ford MEP to its European headquarters in Luton.

During the visit, Mrs Ford met members of the airlines’ senior management team, along with staff in its Operations Control Centre and other key team members who contribute to the airlines success.

She was also given a behind the scenes tour of the day to day operations at London Luton Airport, which also included a visit to the 157ft high control tower.

Speaking after the visit, Paul Simmons, easyJet’s UK Director, said:

“We were delighted to welcome Vicky Ford MEP to our headquarters today – easyJet is the UK’s largest airline, and as a European success story we were pleased to have the opportunity to share our views on key matters that affect the region and our industry.

“As one of the largest employers within the Eastern Region, today’s visit also recognises the important part easyJet plays in delivering local jobs, boosting tourism and supporting economic growth.”

Vicky Ford MEP, added: “It was very good to meet a company based in Luton which continues to grow both nationally and internationally.”

easyJet, Luton Airport and the airports owners took me through their latest impressive plans for expansion. This investment looks to upgrade the airports facilities, improve transport to and from the airport both by rail and road and do this all in a way that is sensitive to residents’ concerns over noise and sustainability.

This expansion could result in up to 4000 new jobs in the region. I hope that people will play an active part in the upcoming consultation and will be open minded when looking at the benefits as well as impacts of the airport.”
