Koh Samui’s annual Cancer Care Charity Fun Run is returning to Nathon Pier on September 26, giving both residents and visitors a chance to take part in one of the island’s longest-running community fundraising events.

Now in its 16th year, the event is organised by Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui in association with the Thai Red Cross Society. Participants can choose between two-, five- and ten-kilometre routes and may run, jog or walk, making the event accessible to recreational participants as well as more competitive runners.

According to details released by Four Seasons, proceeds from the 2026 event will benefit the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok. The funds are intended to support facility improvements and the purchase of medical equipment used in breast cancer care.

An early-morning community event at Nathon Pier

Registration will open at 5:00 am on Saturday, September 26, followed by the start of the run at 6:00 am. Entry is priced at THB 500 per person and includes an event T-shirt and breakfast box. A lucky draw will offer vouchers from Four Seasons properties as well as dining and spa experiences.

The fastest runner in the ten-kilometre category will receive the Queen Suthida Cup, adding a competitive element to an event whose main focus remains participation and fundraising.

Jasjit Assi, General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, said the event’s continuity depends on support from local residents, businesses and visitors. The resort acts as organiser, he noted, while the broader island community provides the participation and donations that sustain the initiative.

Participation has grown into a significant fundraising effort

Four Seasons reported that the 2025 edition attracted 1,158 participants and raised more than THB 700,000. The event has evolved from a resort-led charity initiative into a recurring island gathering, with Nathon Pier serving as a recognisable public setting for the annual run.

The Koh Samui event is also part of a wider cancer-fundraising programme involving Four Seasons properties in Thailand. Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai and Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui have organised charity runs for the past 22 years and have collectively raised more than THB 41.7 million for cancer research projects, according to the hotel group.

Four Seasons traces its global cancer-related charity events back to 1981. In Thailand, that long-running programme has developed into a series of locally organised events designed to combine fundraising with participation from surrounding communities.

A visitor-friendly way to take part in island life

For travellers in Koh Samui at the end of September, the fun run offers a different way to experience the island beyond beaches and resorts. Because participants can walk or jog the shorter distances, the event is structured to accommodate visitors who want to join a community activity without treating it as a competitive race.

With three route lengths, an early start and a clear fundraising purpose, the September 26 event is expected to bring together local runners, resort guests, families and businesses around a shared cause while directing proceeds to specialist breast cancer care in Bangkok.
