KANSAS, MO, 2014-9-24 — /Travel PR News/ — The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that total July passenger traffic at Kansas City International Airport was up 2.8 percent from 2013 figures, with 977,385 passengers arriving and departing through its gates during the month. During July, passenger boardings at KCI were up 3.2 percent, with a total of 492,056.
Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI were down 0.7 percent in July with a total of 15.4 million pounds handled. Air freight handled at KCI during July amounted to 14.9 million pounds, which represents a year-over-year decrease of 0.5 percent. Air mail for July was down 6.7 percent from July 2013 with 437,215 pounds handled. The all-cargo carriers reported 4 daily departures for July.
The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for July 2014 was 181. Service was offered to 43 nonstop markets. There was an average of 38,634 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day, almost no change from last year.
