(NEWS) HOOFDDORP, Netherlands, 2026-Oct-04 — /Travel PR News/ — Hoofddorp is reviving a local Sinterklaas tradition this winter by turning the monumental Polderhuis on Marktplein into the House of Sint, giving families the chance to step inside Sinterklaas’s temporary home in the centre of town.
According to an announcement from Visit Haarlemmermeer, the attraction will open every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from November 18 through December 5, 2026. The return brings the concept back to a venue that last hosted the House of Sint in the early 2000s.
The project is being organised by Hoofddorp Centrum together with Stichting Kinderopvang Haarlemmermeer (SKH), whose administrative office is based in the Polderhuis. The historic building will be temporarily transformed into a series of themed rooms designed around the preparations for the Dutch Sinterklaas celebration.
An interactive route through Sinterklaas’s temporary home
Visitors will move through the Polderhuis on an interactive route that includes Sinterklaas’s bedroom and a gift-wrapping room, where the Pieten are shown preparing presents for Gift-Giving Evening. The route culminates in the building’s main hall with a festive programme featuring Sinterklaas and the Pieten.
Daniëlle Meijer, Center Manager of Hoofddorp Centrum, said the setting gives children the experience of entering the place where Sinterklaas is staying in Hoofddorp, discovering the different rooms and meeting the Pieten before the final show.
Each visit is scheduled for a maximum of one hour and operates in fixed time slots, a format intended to keep group sizes and the experience manageable inside the Polderhuis.
Arrival parade and weekend appearances
The House of Sint is only part of Hoofddorp’s seasonal programme. Sinterklaas is due to receive a festive welcome in the centre during the arrival parade on Sunday, November 15. On subsequent weekends, he is also expected to make visiting rounds through Hoofddorp Centre.
Ticket sales for the House of Sint begin Thursday, October 8. Admission is €12.50 per person, excluding service fees, with every booking tied to a fixed time slot. Tickets are available through the House of Sint ticket page.
