Hilton Petaling Jaya Unveils RM50 Million Renovation Plans

Project Is The First Major Facelift For Kuala Lumpur Hotel In Over A Decade And Is Expected To Be Completed By End 2012

PETALING JAYA, 2012-09-17 — /travelprnews.com/ — Hilton Petaling Jaya today announced plans to pump a total of RM50 million into a major facelift for the hotel. The first renovation of its kind in over a decade, the project seeks to restore the property in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia to its “glory days” and is expected to complete by the end 2012.

“Hilton Petaling Jaya has been an icon in Petaling for more than 27 years. We are very excited about the renovation as it will not only provide the hotel with a refreshed look but equip it with state-of-the-art facilities that help continue our commitment to provide travelers with international-standard accommodations combined with Hilton’s unrivalled excellent service,” said Chris Ehmann, general manager, Hilton Petaling Jaya.

Part of the renovations will witness the hotel’s ballroom, meeting rooms, executive lounge and guest rooms put on a new look inspired by an elegant yet simplistic blend of Asian traditional design combined with subtle touches of vibrant hues.

Designed by Bluwater Design Studio, the refreshed Hilton Petaling Jaya will deliver the world-class guest experience the Hilton brand is renowned for in a contemporary setting designed to offer travelers an urban retreat in the middle of Petaling Jaya’s commercial hub. Tastefully designed with a palatte of soothing colours, the natural-inspired motifs on grain stone, wallpaper, organic and natural lines on carpet and monotone artwork add texture and warmth to the relaxing ambience in ballroom, meeting rooms, executive lounge and rooms. All rooms feature a luxurious bed, down comforter, 42″ LCD television, an adjustable work desk with ergonomic chair, cozy lighting, Caroma fixtures, Grohe hand showers, marble countertops, rain shower and premium bath amenities.

The ballroom is elegantly refreshed with dark hue timber wall paneling with subtle vertical details while complemented by rich textured silk panels and glistening crystal pendants. Equipped with state-of-the-art equipments, the sophisticated ballroom caters to various occasions, from meeting, seminar, corporate event, product launch to wedding reception.

Hilton Petaling Jaya officially opened on 16 May 1984 and is Hilton Worldwide’s longest managed Hilton property in Malaysia. The hotel’s roots can be traced back to the days when it was known as the Jaya Puri Hotel. In 1982, the hotel came under the management of Hilton Worldwide when the then-Pernas Hotel chain Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (now known as Tradewinds Hotels & Resort Bhd) brought over the controlling stake. It was then closed for a RM40 million renovation before reopened with a new hotel brand name.

The renovation is part of a larger scope of major projects by individual hotels above standard annual capital expenditures across the global portfolio of Hilton Hotels & Resorts, the flagship brand of Hilton Worldwide. Beginning in 2011, the projects currently total more than $3 billion during a three-year period.
