(IN SHORT) Luxair has launched direct scheduled flights between Helsinki and Luxembourg, with the inaugural service departing Helsinki Airport on 2 July 2026. The route will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, using Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, making it the first regular scheduled service with this aircraft type at Helsinki Airport. Finavia said the connection strengthens Helsinki Airport’s role as a European hub by providing a new nonstop link to Luxembourg and additional onward travel options through Luxembourg Airport, particularly to destinations in Southern Europe. The launch was marked at the departure gate with passengers, stakeholders and representatives from Luxair, Finavia and the Finnish and Luxembourg diplomatic communities.

(PRESS RELEASE) HELSINKI, Finland, 2026-Jul-2 — /Travel PR News/ — Luxair has inaugurated a new direct scheduled service between Helsinki and Luxembourg, adding a new European connection to Helsinki Airport’s route network.

The first flight departed Helsinki Airport on 2 July 2026, with the launch marked by an event at the departure gate attended by passengers travelling on the inaugural service, airline representatives and other stakeholders.

The Helsinki–Luxembourg route will operate twice a week, with flights scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays.

Luxair will operate the service using Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. The route also marks the first regular scheduled operation of the Embraer E195-E2 at Helsinki Airport.

Finavia said the new connection strengthens Helsinki Airport’s position as a hub for travel between Finland and European destinations.

In addition to providing a direct link to Luxembourg, the service gives passengers departing from Finland access to onward travel opportunities through Luxembourg Airport, including connections to destinations in Southern Europe.

Petri Vuori, Senior Vice President for Route Development at Finavia, welcomed Luxair’s arrival at Helsinki Airport and said the new route represents a positive development for the airport’s international network.

He said the service supports travel links between Helsinki and Luxembourg while expanding the range of destinations available to passengers through connecting services.

The inaugural event included a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony and remarks from Luxair Chief Commercial Officer Thomas Fischer, Finland’s Honorary Consul of Luxembourg Christoffer Waselius and Finavia representatives.

The speakers highlighted the importance of the direct air connection for cooperation and links between Finland and Luxembourg.

Passengers travelling on the first departure were also offered coffee and cake to mark the route launch.

Luxair said the new route provides an additional travel option for passengers travelling between Finland and Luxembourg while supporting wider European connectivity.

The service is expected to serve both point-to-point travellers and passengers connecting through Luxembourg Airport to other destinations within the airline’s network.
