Hale Hōkūala Kauaʻi, Curio Collection by Hilton has opened on Kauaʻi, giving Curio Collection by Hilton its first resort in Hawaiʻi and adding a new 210-room lifestyle property to the island’s hospitality offering. The resort, which includes 23 suites, sits within the Hōkūala Resort community overlooking Nāwiliwili Bay and alongside Kalapakī Beach, with access to recreation, cultural programming and destination-focused dining.

The opening completes a rollout that Hilton first detailed in March 2026, when it announced plans for the property, followed by a June reservation launch for stays beginning Sept. 30. Hilton’s opening announcement positions the resort as a locally rooted base for exploring Kauaʻi rather than a self-contained retreat, with guest programming designed around the island’s landscape, food traditions and community connections.

Island setting shapes the design

Designed by Hart Howerton and AHL, formerly Architects Hawaii Limited, with interiors by Looney & Associates, Hale Hōkūala uses open-air walkways, broad lānais and outdoor gathering areas to keep the surrounding landscape central to the guest experience. Rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and private lānais, while the interior palette draws on the blues of Nāwiliwili Bay and the Pacific, the greens of Kauaʻi’s valleys and earthier coastal tones.

Views extend toward the Pacific Ocean, Hāʻupu Mountain and the Ocean Course at Hōkūala. The resort’s location near Līhuʻe Airport also puts guests within reach of destinations including Hanalei Bay, Kauaʻi’s North Shore, Waimea Canyon and Kōkeʻe State Park.

Cultural programming built around local partnerships

A central element of the new resort is E Ala Ka Pilina, translated as “The Awakening of Connection.” The cultural immersion program was developed with local practitioners, educators, historians, artisans, nonprofits and community organizations, with activities planned both on and off the property.

The Kauaʻi Museum is the inaugural partner for programming focused on the island’s history and creative expression within the broader Hawaiian story. Hilton says future activities are expected to explore agriculture, lei making, traditional aquaculture, land stewardship, hula and Hawaiian storytelling. The approach is intended to give visitors more structured ways to engage with local people and traditions rather than treating culture as a decorative theme.

Portuguese-Hawaiian dining leads the food programme

The resort’s signature restaurant, Figueira, overlooks the 18th hole of the Ocean Course at Hōkūala and is presented by Hilton as Kauaʻi’s only Portuguese-Hawaiian dining concept. Led by Executive Chef Hans Lentz and Director of Food & Beverage Romina Migliorini, the restaurant combines Portuguese influences with island-grown ingredients and Hawaiian food traditions.

Menu examples released for the opening include Kauaʻi prawns, Portuguese Fisherman’s Stew, bacalhau no forno, pastel de nata and malasadas, alongside Hawaiian-grown coffee and locally produced drinks. Poolside, The Wiliwili at Hale Hōkūala takes a more casual approach with poke bowls, plate lunch specials, shave ice, pūpū, juices, smoothies and zero-proof selections.

Golf, trails and group travel broaden the resort’s appeal

Guests can use the resort pool and fitness centre and have access within the wider Hōkūala community to a full-service spa, wellness programming, tennis and pickleball courts. Outdoor options include preferred tee times at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Ocean Course at Hōkūala, more than five miles of scenic trails, complimentary bicycles and beach amenities.

The nearby Farm at Hōkūala adds an agricultural component, highlighting canoe plants, native crops and farming traditions. For meetings, weddings and other group events, Hale Hōkūala offers more than 14,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor space, with ocean and mountain settings that can be paired with dining, wellness, golf and cultural activities.

Hilton expands its Hawaiʻi portfolio

Hilton says the opening takes its Hawaiʻi portfolio to nearly 30 hotels across the islands and adds a new brand to a presence that already includes Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikīkī Beach Resort, Ka Laʻi Waikīkī Beach, LXR Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Waikoloa Village and Grand Wailea Maui, A Waldorf Astoria Resort.

Hale Hōkūala participates in Hilton Honors. To mark the debut, the property is also promoting a Kauaʻi Island Escape package offering 25 percent off the best available rate for stays of three nights or longer, subject to the offer’s terms and availability.
