LONDON, 2016-Mar-22 — /Travel PR News/ — Gatwick is preparing for a record-breaking Easter with 2.2 million passengers forecast to travel through the airport this holiday (25 March – 10 April). 580,000 passengers will visit during the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend alone.

During the holiday period, the airport will welcome 50% more families with young children with the busiest day, Sunday 3 April, seeing 136,000 passengers visiting.

An Easter weekend of fun and frivolity is planned with children travelling through Gatwick’s south terminal invited to the airport’s Alice in Wonderland themed Mad Hatter’s Tea Party with sweet treats, face painting and prize-winning golden tickets.

More Gatwick terminal staff will be on hand throughout the Easter holiday assisting passengers with the airport’s free of charge children’s play areas, dedicated family security lanes and pushchairs to use on arrival.

Guy Stephenson, Gatwick’s Chief Commercial Officer said: “Every year we work to make Easter extra special for passengers travelling with us through the holiday. We know that it’s the little thoughts each step of the way that help – whether it’s a dedicated family security lane or a pushchair available on your arrival at the airport – ensuring the best start and end to your holiday.”

About Gatwick Airport
Gatwick Airport is the UK’s second largest airport and the most efficient single-runway airport in the world. It serves more than 200 destinations in 90 countries for more than 40 million passengers a year on short and long-haul point-to-point services. It is also a major economic driver for the South East region, generating around 21,000 on-airport jobs and a further 10,000 jobs through related activities. The airport is south of Central London with excellent public transport links, including the Gatwick Express, and is part of the Oyster contactless payment network. Gatwick Airport is owned by a group of international investment funds, of which Global Infrastructure Partners is the largest shareholder.

The Government has indicated it will make a decision this year on whether Gatwick airport should be expanded. Gatwick’s second runway will deliver the UK the same number of passengers, the same number of long haul routes, better UK and regional connections, and the economic boost the UK needs, all at a dramatically lower environmental impact, at less than half the cost of Heathrow, and with no public subsidy.
