Four Seasons Golf Club Mauritius at Anahita Appoints New Director of Golf

Blyth Reid brings a wealth of international golf management experience toFour Seasons, ahead of this December’s highly anticipated AGM

Mauritius – 2012-10-23 — /travelprnews.com/ — Home to one of the Indian Ocean’s most spectacular golf courses,Four Seasons Golf Club Mauritius at Anahita has named Blyth Reid as its new Director of Golf to take the reins of the management of its oceanfront Ernie Els-designed course, professional Golf Academy and all golfing facilities at the Resort.

Scottish-born Reid has been involved in the running of many international tournaments and resorts, having previously held the position of director of golf at The Grove in Hertfordshire, England, and at Fancourt Hotel & Country Club Estate in South Africa. Under Reid’s leadership, The Grove played host to the 2006 American Express World Golf Championships, which was won by Tiger Woods.

Beginning his career at the world renowned Turnberry Hotel & Golf Courses in Scotland, where he worked his way up to the position of senior PGA professional, Reid’s 20 plus years in the golfing field have allowed him to accumulate a range of expertise in all areas of golf management, leading him to taking over the position of managing director at the Pezula Club in South Africa in 2006. In this role, he oversaw not only the championship golf course, but all operations, including three restaurants and a range of sports facilities, prior to joining Four Seasons Golf Club Mauritius at Anahita.

Commenting on his new position, Reid says: “It’s a privilege to be joining the team here in Mauritius. The golfing facilities are of the highest standard and in addition to the natural beauty of the surroundings, the permanent tropical climate also makes the island a great all year round destination for golf.

“Our Ernie Els golf course is very clever in its design, as it offers technical challenges to professional players, while at the same time, the inclusion of features such as five different tee off positions and generously wide fairways removes the intimidation for amateur players,” says Reid. “The result of this intuitive design can be best seen in our AfrAsia Golf Masters, which will be held for the third consecutive year this December, and allows amateurs and professionals alike to enjoy the challenges of the course.”

Set to take place between December 9-16, 2012, the AfrAsia Golf Masters 2012 will feature two days of Pro-Am, two half-days of Alliance, two half-days of Open Amateur competition and the professional tournament. Professional players who competed in the event last year include Nicholas Colsaerts, Hennie Otto and the overall winner, Gregory Havret.

Guests looking to enjoy golf in Mauritius and wishing to attend the AfrAsia Golf Masters can take advantage of the exclusiveFour Seasons package, which includes seven nights in a private pool villa; daily breakfast; lunch at Four Seasons Golf Clubhouse; and all the gala dinners, cocktail events and restaurant dinners for each evening, as per the tournament program. The package is priced at EUR 2,750.00 per person (plus 15 percent VAT), based on two people sharing a Garden Pool Villa.

Amateur golfers wishing to join in the action can register for the two day Pro-Am and two half-days of Open Amateur competition as part of a set package, with registration priced at EUR 600.00.
