  • The bar is open Friday through Sunday from 3 p.m. to sundown, serving seasonal cocktails, wines and zero-proof beverages with views toward major San Francisco landmarks.

Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco at Embarcadero has opened Weather Permitting, a seasonal bar on its 40th-floor terrace, adding a new sunset-focused food-and-beverage experience to the hotel’s fall programming. The Friday-to-Sunday concept operates from 3:00 p.m. until sundown, turning one of the property’s highest outdoor spaces into a limited-hours setting for drinks and panoramic views across San Francisco Bay.

According to the hotel’s September 11 launch announcement, the menu combines seasonal cocktails developed by the property’s lead bartenders with wines and zero-proof beverages. The terrace looks toward the Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge and Alcatraz, making the city itself a central part of the experience rather than simply a backdrop to a conventional hotel bar.

Golden-hour focus above San Francisco

The operating window puts late-afternoon and sunset views at the heart of Weather Permitting. The pop-up is open Friday through Sunday from mid-afternoon to sundown, and Four Seasons has not specified an end date for the seasonal run in its launch announcement.

Janet Wruck, general manager of Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco at Embarcadero, said the concept is intended to celebrate San Francisco’s “long fall evenings, sweeping views, and great company.” The hotel’s seasonal programming also uses the 40th-floor terrace for open-air experiences such as Sky Flow Yoga, so the new bar extends the same high-rise setting into the late-day dining and drinks schedule.

For travellers staying at the property, Weather Permitting also connects with the hotel’s broader food-and-beverage offering. Four Seasons says its Experience More spending credit can be used for drinks at the pop-up, dining at Orafo and other eligible on-property charges.

Hotel spending credit can be used during a stay

The current Experience More offer provides a USD 100 spending credit per guest-room stay and USD 250 per suite stay. The published terms list a two-night minimum and selected stay dates between September 10, 2026 and December 31, 2027, subject to availability, blackout dates and other restrictions. The credit applies once per stay and must be used during the initial stay.

The hotel is a Michelin Two-Key property, and Weather Permitting gives guests another way to use its high-rise location as part of the stay itself. For travellers, the practical appeal is straightforward: a late-afternoon stop above downtown for drinks and Bay views before dinner or an evening elsewhere in the city.
