easyJet started flights from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Newquay, the gateway to South West England’s surfing coast

2013-07-08 — /travelprnews.com/ — Passengers at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (JLA) were able to test their surfing skills this morning ahead of easyJet’s inaugural service to Newquay – gateway to South West England’s surfing coast. As part of a fun day promotion to celebrate easyJet’s latest new destination from Liverpool, the Airport installed an indoor surfing simulator for passengers to practice on.  Meanwhile, students from Liverpool University’s popular surfing club were on hand to give tips and advice for would-be surfers.

The three times weekly flights to Newquay depart at 9:45am each Tuesday and Thursday morning and at 1:40pm on Sundays. With travel times to the South West Coast normally in excess of 5 hours by car and even longer by train, the 60 minute flight time gives passengers from across the North West the opportunity to travel to one of the UK’s top holiday destinations in a fraction of the time.

The surfing simulator gave passengers a taste of the sport that has made Newquay the surfing capital of the UK.  The Airport also invited a local DJ along to help create a great holiday atmosphere in the terminal for all passengers flying out, not only to Newquay, but also to a range of Mediterranean holiday destinations. VisitNewquay, the organisation responsible for promoting tourism to the area also set up a stand at the airport with lots of information for passengers to take away.

Robin Tudor, Head or PR for Liverpool John Lennon Airport commented, ”We like to offer our passengers something different to help pass the time whilst they wait for their flights and with easyJet’s new service to Newquay starting today, we thought this would be a great way to get passengers in the holiday mood.”

This latest route launch for easyJet at Liverpool follows hot on the heals of the announcement of a new long term agreement between JLA and easyJet and the news that the airline will be adding a service to Larnaca in Cyprus for the start of the Winter season in early November 2013.
