Chicago’s Natural Beauty on Display at Chicago’s Airports

CHICAGO, 2012-10-2 — /travelprnews.com/ — A new photo exhibit showcasing Chicago’s natural beauty has landed at O’Hare and Midway International Airports. Last fall, the Chicago Park District Natural Areas Program asked Chicagoans to “Take their best shot!” and photograph nature in the city.  Over 250 photographs were submitted and judged in four categories:  People in Nature, Native Flora, Native Fauna and the Chicago Waterfront.  The winning photos were selected for participation in “Nature in Chicago,” a traveling exhibition that included numerous Park District facilities and is concluding with displays at both O’Hare and Midway.

The exhibit is now on display at O’Hare past security in Terminal 2, adjacent to the Children’s Play area.  The exhibit will be featured at Midway in Concourse A from October 10 through October 31.  On November 15, the photos will be auctioned off at the Chicago Wilderness Congress, with all proceeds benefiting conservation efforts in the Chicago region.

The “Nature in Chicago” exhibit is part of the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) Arts and Exhibition Program.  The goal of the program is to enhance travelers’ airport experience by presenting aesthetically pleasing, engaging and enlightening art and exhibits throughout Chicago’s airports. In addition to its permanent art collection, the CDA regularly features artists, cultural institutions and not-for-profit organizations in a variety of exhibits at the airports.
