CDP climate change report 2017: Lufthansa Group earns leadership status in the global ranking

COLOGNE, Germany, 2017-Oct-30 — /Travel PR News/ — External experts and organizations regularly assess the Lufthansa Group with regard to responsible actions. In the climate change report 2017 of the international charitable rating organization CDP, published today, the Lufthansa Group achieved leadership status in the global ranking with the climate score “A-” (last year: “B”). According to the CDP rating, the Group is thus not only among the best in the industry in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, but now also listed in the highest ranking band.

Airlines are also listed by the CDP in the sector “Industrials”. Here, the Lufthansa Group is also in the Top 3 group worldwide.

“The Lufthansa Group stands for responsible mobility. We do everything we can to limit the effects on the environment and to fly toward a sustainable future. The thus far highest award and inclusion among the leadership shows that our numerous programs for sustainable aviation are working,” said Dr. Karlheinz Haag, Head of Environmental Issues at Lufthansa Group.

A company ranked with leadership shows a high level of transparency in connection with actually implemented climate protection measures, such as target setting and emission reduction, to the verification of reported data. CDP climate scores are awarded on a scale form A (best result) to D-.

CDP carries out the world’s major climate ranking, in which companies are required to report comprehensive information and data on CO2 emissions, strategies on their reduction and climate risks. The Lufthansa Group has been participating in the annual CDP reporting since 2006, thereby providing information to the relevant interest groups on its climate protection strategy and emission reduction measures in a transparent manner.

Further information on the targets, measures and programs of the Lufthansa Group in the area of climate and environmental responsibility as well as on further aspects of corporate responsibility can be found in the current issue of the sustainability report “Balance” at www.lufthansagroup.com/responsibility
