Cape Town International Airport contributes to Good Hope FM’s “Keeping Cape Town Warm” campaign

2012-07-26 — /travelprnews.com/ — Airports Company South Africa, Cape Town International Airport (ACSA CTIA) will be hosting Good Hope FM’s “Keeping Cape Town Warm” campaign on Wednesday, 25 July 2012 from 09:00 to 12:00 midday. The airport will be donating R80 000 worth of goods to the station as part of its Corporate Social Investment Winter Warmer campaign.

“As a business, we run airports but that is not the only focus – contributing to the development and upliftment of the communities around the airport is an important aspect of our business,” said Deborah Francis, Acting Communications Manager, Cape Town International Airport. “This time of the year, on an annual basis, we usually run our winter warmer campaign as part of our outreach programmes.  This year we also decided to partner with Good Hope FM in their “Keeping Cape Town Warm” campaign as it is in line with our own campaign to assist the less fortunate as they face the chilly Cape Town weather with little or no warm clothing or food to keep them warm.  We have purchased jackets, jerseys, pillows, shoes, warm tops and track pants for adults and kids as well as blankets, duvets, raincoats and non-perishable food items to mention a few”

The airport was also approached by Africa Tikkun, an organisation it has supported before, with a request to assist a woman from Mfuleni with three children. The woman recently lost everything when her home in an informal settlement burnt down. As part of its Winter Warmer campaign, ACSA CTIA will be donating a R10 000 Makro voucher to her that will assist in purchasing some of the items she lost in the fire such as blankets, clothes, kitchen utensils, pots, pans, food and so forth. “Through such initiatives, we continuously strive to positively impact the communities in which the airport operates through our corporate social responsibility programmes,” concluded Francis.
