Busy Bank Holiday Weekend Expected for JLA

2012-08-27 — /travelprnews.com/ — The August Bank Holiday is expected to be the busiest weekend of the year for Liverpool John Lennon Airport (JLA) with around 65,000 passengers expected to travel through the airport

With further rain set to dampen more than just spirits, the attraction of some much needed summer sunshine is likely to see a late surge of holiday makers taking the opportunity for some end of season hotter weather, following yet another disappointing British Summer.

In recent weeks there appears to have been an increase in enquiries and bookings for flights with airlines from Liverpool to the many Mediterranean sunshine destinations that are just a short flight away. Easyjet report that flights to destinations including Alicante, Malaga, Faro, Palma and Nice are selling fast and recommend passengers book quickly if they are thinking of taking a last minute break.

For those looking to avoid this busy weekend, there are some great deals still available from Liverpool in the coming weeks particularly to city break destinations across Europe, such as Berlin, Paris, Madrid, Naples and Krakow.

Robin Tudor, Head of PR for Peel Airports, commented: “Whilst the recession and the poor weather are doing their best to dampen spirits, it appears that the chance to jet off somewhere warm is still important to the region’s passengers. The great choice of value for money flights and the range of destinations look like proving irresistible for many.

Once again the growing international reputation of Liverpool’s Mathew Street Festival this weekend will no doubt bring over many visitors from overseas into Liverpool too.”
