From October, British Airways will also expand its Heathrow  – Aberdeen service by adding another ten flights a week, increasing capacity on the route by 39 per cent.

The total increase in capacity on British Airways flights between Aberdeen and London will be 58 per cent.

Luke Hayhoe, general manager commercial for British Airways at London City, said: “Our direct flights to Edinburgh and Glasgow from London City are extremely popular for both business and leisure travellers.

“We are delighted to have added flights from London City to Aberdeen, linking the UK’s financial and business hub with Europe’s oil capital.

“This new route complements the existing Heathrow – Aberdeen   service, giving our customers greater choice and additional frequency when travelling between these two great wealth generating cities.”

Declan Collier, Chief Executive, London City Airport, welcomed the commencement of the LCY- Aberdeen service and reinforced the airport’s commitment to a key route linking two business centres.

“Business travellers departing to, or arriving from Aberdeen will benefit from our 20/10 proposition – a 20 minute check in from door to gate and a ten minute arrival from tarmac to train – which will allow them to access Canary Wharf, the City and Westminster quickly and easily.

“Adding Aberdeen to the 42 destinations that we already serve further cements LCY’s position as the business traveller’s preferred airport for domestic and European travel.”Passengers using this service are entitled to a generous free 23kg luggage allowance, free online check-in and seat selection 24 hours before departure, as well as complimentary food and drink on board.
