(PRESS RELEASE) KOTA KINABALU, Malaysia, 2026-Aug-11 — /Travel PR News/ — Minor Hotels has announced Avani Kota Kinabalu, a 352-key premium lifestyle hotel scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2027.
The property will introduce the Avani brand to Sabah and further expand Minor Hotels’ portfolio in Malaysia.
Avani Kota Kinabalu will form part of The Logg Luyang, an integrated development by KTI Landmark in the established Luyang neighbourhood.
The hotel is designed to serve both leisure and corporate demand in Kota Kinabalu, one of East Malaysia’s main commercial centres and an important gateway to Borneo.
Located approximately 10 minutes from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, the property will provide convenient access to the city’s business districts, residential areas and visitor attractions.
The announcement supports Minor Hotels’ strategy to grow its lifestyle hotel portfolio in destinations with increasing domestic, regional and international demand.
Avani Kota Kinabalu will also strengthen the group’s Malaysian presence, joining Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas in Johor as Minor Hotels continues to pursue growth opportunities across Asia.
Developed by KTI Landmark, The Logg Luyang will combine hospitality, commercial and lifestyle components within a single integrated development.
Avani Kota Kinabalu will serve as the development’s hospitality anchor, offering accommodation, dining, wellness and event facilities for both hotel guests and the local community.
Winston Gong, General Manager of Avani Kota Kinabalu, said Kota Kinabalu is developing quickly as a regional business and tourism hub, creating demand for a hotel that can serve corporate, leisure and social uses.
He said the hotel’s focus will be on delivering an efficient and locally relevant guest experience while creating a property with genuine appeal for Kota Kinabalu residents.
The hotel has been designed by Shah Architect, with landscape architecture by SD2 and interiors by INdulge.
Its 352 rooms will be tailored to business travel, short breaks and longer stays.
Avani Kota Kinabalu will include five dining and social venues serving hotel guests and the wider local community.
The all-day dining restaurant will offer Sabahan, Malaysian, Korean and international cuisine, supported by live cooking stations, local specialities and a signature Avani Sunday Lunch.
A contemporary Chinese restaurant will focus on Sabah Hakka heritage and regional flavours.
The Lobby Lounge will operate as a daytime meeting space before transitioning into an evening venue serving afternoon tea, cocktails and whiskies.
The Pantry will provide handcrafted bakery items, desserts and premium coffee for dine-in and takeaway guests.
On the rooftop, SEEN Restaurant & Bar will bring the established rooftop dining and nightlife concept to Sabah, with globally inspired cuisine, mixology, curated music and destination-led experiences.
The hotel will also feature dedicated meeting and banquet facilities for conferences, weddings and social events.
Leisure amenities will include an infinity pool and AvaniFit gym.
Nearby Tun Fuad Stephens Park will provide access to outdoor recreation.
By combining accommodation, rooftop dining, wellness facilities and event spaces within a major integrated development, Avani Kota Kinabalu is expected to strengthen Minor Hotels’ lifestyle offering in Malaysia and support the group’s continued expansion across Asia.
