Austrian Airlines to cover peak capacity requirements with five wet lease agreements for the year 2016

VIENNA, AUSTRIA, 2016-May-02 — /Travel PR News/ — Austrian Airlines plans to conclude up to five wet lease agreements for the year 2016. The objective of these contracts is to cover peak capacity requirements of the airline, above all in the particularly dense summer flight schedule. The first such wet lease agreement with Adria Airways and its partner Nordica will take effect on May 1: One Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft along with cockpit and cabin crew will be deployed in the European route network of Austrian Airlines until the end of October 2016. Passengers on these flights will enjoy the usual service provided by DO & CO. The planned destinations targeted by this agreement beside the Austrian hub in Vienna are Amsterdam, Milan and Vilnius. Other wet lease agreements are currently being prepared.

The Slovenian airline Adria Airways has more than 50 years of experience in charter and scheduled air traffic. The head office of the company is located in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Today, the majority of Adria Airways business is in scheduled flights: its network links Ljubljana with 17 cities throughout Europe. Adria Airways is a Star Alliance member, a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and is certified according to the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA).

Nordica was founded in 2015 under the name of Nordic Aviation Group. The company is headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia. Nordica cooperates closely with Adria Airways, whose air operator certificate (AOC), commercial platform and ticketing system they are using. Nordica acquired its own AOC for its first own aircraft under its subsidiary Regional Jet in February 2016.
