Arik Air donated Toyota Hilux pick up van to Police Command at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA)

Arik Air, West and Central Africa’s largest commercial airline on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 donated a Toyota Hilux pick up van to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Police Command, as part of efforts to assist security agencies with logistics to improve security around the airport.

Ikeja, Nigeria, 2013-12-12 — /travelprnews.com/ — The donation according to the Managing Director of Arik Air, Mr Chris Ndulue is part of the airline’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme aimed at reaching out to its immediate community. At the presentation of the vehicle to the Commissioner of Police, MMIA Command, Mr Waheed Salau, Mr. Ndulue said Arik Air was motivated into assisting the Police because of the timely response of its officers and men to security challenges.

He said the airline would continue to assist the Nigeria Police as the security and safety of passengers in and around the airports nationwide is part of its corporate objective.

The Commissioner of Police expressed gratitude to Arik Air for the gesture, which he said is unique. Salau said the police is highly encouraged by the donation, being the very first from any domestic airline in the country.

He assured that the Police will immediately deploy the van for patrol to ensure hitch free operations around the airport. He disclosed that since August when he assumed duties at the Lagos Airport, there has been no incidence of robbery assuring that the police will strive to ensure passengers traveling through airports nationwide do so without hassles.
