(NEWS) MADRID, Spain, 2026-Sep-10 — /Travel PR News/ — Christmas in a 13th-century Amalfi convent, rooftop countdowns in Rome and Dublin, and a new New Year’s Eve gathering inside an Amsterdam landmark are among the ways Anantara Hotels & Resorts is closing its 25th-anniversary year across Europe. The luxury brand has set out a 2026 festive programme spanning eight hotels, with each property drawing on its destination through food, culture, wellness and local seasonal traditions rather than following a single group-wide format.
Details released through the Minor Hotels newsroom cover properties in Amalfi, Amsterdam, Vienna, Marbella, Rome, Budapest, Nice and Dublin. Anantara, part of Minor Hotels, launched in 2001 and is using the Christmas and New Year period as the finale to its quarter-century celebrations. Travellers can also compare the wider seasonal offer through Anantara’s festive celebrations hub.
Candlelight in Amalfi and a new Amsterdam countdown
On the Amalfi Coast, Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel is building its programme around the atmosphere of the former Capuchin convent. Local artisans will gather for a Christmas market in the 13th-century cloisters, followed by the hotel’s annual candlelight experience with live music, a firepit and hot chocolate. The convent church is also scheduled to host a Christmas concert by the Minori Band, while Anantara Spa will offer a candlelight ritual using natural candle wax as massage oil. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve dinners at Ristorante Dei Cappuccini complete the seasonal line-up.
In Amsterdam, Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam is extending its New Year’s Eve celebrations beyond its restaurants for the first time. The Dam Square hotel plans to turn its lobby and public spaces into a countdown setting with DJs and bars as the city welcomes 2027. Earlier in the season, The Cake Room will sell handcrafted advent calendars and chocolate ornaments from November, while festive dining includes experiences at The White Room and Christmas brunches beneath the Wintergarden’s 19th-century glass roof.
Vienna packages and a Mediterranean Christmas in Marbella
Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna is packaging several of the Austrian capital’s familiar winter rituals into three overnight stays. Its Festive Midweek Escape combines a tour of Vienna’s Christmas markets with Theo’s Tea Time and seasonal drinks; the Christmas Package includes a six-course dinner at Brasserie Sophie; and New Year’s Eve guests can choose between a gala dinner and an eight-course tasting menu at Michelin-starred EDVARD.
Farther south, Anantara Villa Padierna Palace Benahavís Marbella Resort is taking a warmer Mediterranean approach. Its programme includes the anniversary-themed Silver Glow Ritual at Anantara Spa, encounters with artisans behind ceramics used around the resort, and family-oriented workshops such as festive sweet-making. Christmas Day brunch will be served at La Pérgola, while 99 Sushi Bar will host an Asian-influenced New Year’s Eve dining experience.
Rome turns to The Nutcracker
One of the programme’s most destination-specific collaborations is in Rome, where Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Rome is working with Teatro dell’Opera di Roma on a festive concept inspired by The Nutcracker. Selected elements associated with the opera house’s creative spaces will appear within the hotel, while younger guests can make edible ornaments in a Nutcracker-themed culinary workshop and take part in a Christmas treasure hunt through the gardens.
For New Year’s Eve, the focus moves to SEEN by Olivier, where the rooftop celebration is positioned around views of fireworks over Piazza della Repubblica. The Rome programme illustrates a broader pattern across the eight hotels: established festive staples such as gala dinners and countdowns are being paired with cultural partnerships and activities rooted more closely in the destination.
Budapest traditions, Riviera wellness and Dublin dining
At Anantara New York Palace Budapest, guests will encounter Hungarian seasonal flavours including Flódni, layered with apple, walnuts, poppy seeds and plum jam, and Beigli, the traditional rolled sweetbread. A stay package includes limousine transfers to Vörösmarty Square Christmas Market, while White Salon will host a New Year’s Eve gala before New Year’s Day at the New York Café.
On the French Riviera, Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel is pairing its New Year’s Eve programme at rooftop restaurant SEEN by Olivier with afternoon tea at Les Colonnades created by pastry chef Philippe Tayac. The hotel’s spa offer combines sauna and hammam access with a personalised 45-minute massage and take-home wellness products.
In Ireland, Anantara The Marker Dublin Hotel is centring Christmas and New Year around Forbes Street by Gareth Mullins, where modern Irish tasting menus will run across the holidays. The Marker Bar & Lounge will serve festive afternoon tea alongside its Poetry & Places experience, and the season will culminate in a rooftop countdown overlooking Dublin.
Taken together, the eight programmes show Anantara using the festive period not only as a peak-season dining occasion but also as a way to package local culture, family activities and wellness into city and resort stays. For travellers considering Christmas or New Year trips in Europe, the result is a portfolio that ranges from historic cloisters and Christmas markets to Mediterranean spas and metropolitan rooftop celebrations.
