ANA to present its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner at the 50th Farnborough International Airshow

  • ANA becomes the first Japanese airline to make demonstration flight at the airshow
  • ANA to utilize new 787-9 cabin specification to enhance customer service on medium-haul routes

TOKYO, 2016-Jul-08 — /Travel PR News/ — A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner decorated with special ANA decal is set to make a series of demonstration flights* at the 50th Farnborough International Airshow, which will take place in Farnborough, UK, starting July 11, 2016. The flights on July 11, 12 and 13 will mark the first time that the Japanese airline carries out a demonstration flight at the prestigious air show.

The decision to operate the demonstration flights reflects ANA’s status as the launch customer and the largest operator of the 787 series of aircraft. ANA has ordered 83 of the 787 family, including 44 of the 787-9 model. The airline currently operates 11 of the model principally on international routes. The ANA aircraft for the demonstration flights is specially outfitted in livery prominently featuring Mount Fuji with cherry blossoms, two iconic symbols of Japan.

Starting with the next delivery scheduled this month, ANA will be introducing a new cabin specification for the B787-9 fitted for mid-haul international routes, principally between Japan and Southeast Asian destinations. The aircraft is to be introduced to the Haneda=Singapore route from the beginning of August, followed by the Haneda=Hong Kong route at the end of August. It is also planned to be introduced to the Haneda=Bangkok route in the near future. The new cabins are equipped with full-flat ANA Business Staggered seats in Business Class, which are already offered on ANA long-haul international services to Europe and North America (excluding Honolulu). The new additions to ANA’s fleet will further improve passenger experience and comfort on mid-haul routes.

*The Boeing Company will conduct the demonstration flight using an undelivered aircraft that remains under the ownership of the Boeing Company.
