(NEWS) TOKYO, Japan, 2026-Aug-24 — /Travel PR News/ — All Nippon Airways is preparing to bring another Pokémon-themed aircraft into service, with its new Green Pokémon Jet scheduled to begin operating on international routes from 18 September 2026.
The specially painted aircraft is the second jet unveiled as part of the ANA x Pokémon 30th Anniversary Special Project, following the earlier announcement of the Red Pokémon Jet.
According to details released by ANA, the Green Pokémon Jet will be operated using a Boeing 787-9 aircraft registered as JA923A. The aircraft is scheduled to enter regular international service on Friday, 18 September, with route assignments to be confirmed on the day of operation depending on operational requirements.
The new livery continues ANA’s long-running use of character-led aircraft design as part of its passenger experience and brand storytelling. Pokémon aircraft have become especially recognisable among aviation fans, families and travellers with an interest in Japanese pop culture.
For ANA, the Green Pokémon Jet is not only a visual celebration of the partnership, but also a way to create a more memorable journey for passengers on selected international flights. The airline said the aircraft will operate on scheduled routes from 18 September 2026 to 27 March 2027, although daily assignments may change.
The launch also comes with a reminder around onboard safety and operations. ANA said cabin crew will not be able to sign or write messages in passenger logbooks, asking for understanding so that safe operations can be maintained.
Alongside the aircraft launch, ANA is introducing the second phase of its Pokémon GO collaboration. From 18 September, specially designed ANA PokéStops and Gyms will appear at 14 airports across Japan, giving players the chance to take part in Raid Battles and Timed Research.
The participating airports include Kochi, Matsuyama, Takamatsu, Tokushima, Fukuoka, Saga, Miyazaki, Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Nagasaki, Oita, Ishigaki, Miyako and Naha.
Players taking part in the collaboration will have the chance to encounter Pokémon with a Location Background exclusive to the Green Pokémon Jet campaign.
The airport-based Pokémon GO activities extend the project beyond the aircraft itself, turning the anniversary campaign into a wider travel experience that connects flights, airports and mobile gameplay.
That kind of collaboration fits naturally with the way airlines are increasingly using pop culture partnerships to create emotional connections with passengers. For some travellers, a themed aircraft can become part of the reason to follow a flight, visit an airport or plan a trip.
For younger passengers and families, the appeal is immediate. For aviation enthusiasts, special liveries create a sense of collectability. For international travellers, they add a distinct Japanese cultural touch to the journey.
ANA said further details about the Pokémon Jets will be announced through its official website and other platforms.
The airline’s partnership with Pokémon has become one of the more recognisable examples of how aviation, entertainment and tourism can overlap. With the Green Pokémon Jet, ANA is continuing that tradition while marking three decades of collaboration.
For passengers, the experience will depend on route assignments and aircraft availability. But for those who find themselves boarding the Green Pokémon Jet from September, the flight will carry more than a new livery. It will be part of a long-running story that links Japanese aviation with one of the country’s most globally recognised entertainment brands.
