(IN SHORT) American Airlines is expanding its partnership with Pecan Lodge, making the Texas barbecue restaurant’s First Class meal options available on all eligible domestic flights departing from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport beginning 9 September.
Customers will be able to preorder Pecan Lodge’s smoked brisket sandwich for lunch or the barbecue platter for dinner, when available. The dishes are prepared through a process that begins at Pecan Lodge’s Dallas restaurant, where meats are seasoned and slow-smoked before being packaged and prepared by American’s catering partners for inflight service. The expanded offering supports American’s broader effort to improve inflight dining with regional brands, alongside other onboard enhancements including premium champagne, new California wines, Lavazza coffee and expanded Main Cabin snacks.
(PRESS RELEASE) FORT WORTH, TX, United States, 2026-Aug-7 — /Travel PR News/ — American Airlines is expanding its partnership with Pecan Lodge, the award-winning Texas barbecue restaurant, following strong customer response to the restaurant’s barbecue platter and smoked brisket sandwich.
Beginning 9 September, the popular First Class meal option will be available on all eligible domestic flights departing from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
The expansion builds on the successful introduction of Pecan Lodge menu items and reflects American’s continued focus on improving the onboard dining experience with recognised regional food brands.
Rhonda Crawford, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience Design and Strategy at American Airlines, said customer feedback on the Pecan Lodge offering has been overwhelmingly positive.
She said the airline is pleased to expand the menu across flights from its hometown hub, adding that Pecan Lodge’s bold Texas flavours work well at altitude and give customers a distinctive dining experience in the air.
Customers travelling in First Class on eligible flights from DFW will be able to preorder Pecan Lodge’s smoked brisket sandwich for lunch or the barbecue platter for dinner, when available.
American said bringing an authentic Texas barbecue experience on board requires a detailed process.
The preparation begins at Pecan Lodge’s restaurant in Dallas, where meats are seasoned and slow-smoked using the same techniques that have helped establish the restaurant’s national reputation.
The barbecue is then carefully packaged to preserve flavour and quality.
American’s catering partners prepare each preordered entrée for inflight service, allowing customers to enjoy a taste of Texas at cruising altitude.
Justin Fourton, pit master and co-owner of Pecan Lodge, said every recipe served by the restaurant has a story behind it and requires careful preparation.
He said barbecue is deeply personal to the Pecan Lodge team, making it important to scale the dishes for airline service without compromising the quality and flavours guests expect.
Fourton said the collaboration with American has made it possible to share a genuine Texas barbecue experience with travellers from across the country.
The expanded partnership supports American’s broader effort to feature well-known regional brands and enhance inflight dining.
Pecan Lodge is recognised nationally for its Central Texas-style barbecue and has received attention from outlets including The New York Times, Food Network and Travel + Leisure.
In addition to menu partnerships, American continues to invest in the wider inflight experience.
The airline said its recent enhancements include the most elevated champagne selection among U.S. carriers, new California wines in premium cabins, premium Lavazza coffee on all mainline flights and an expanded range of snacks available for purchase in Main Cabin.
