The airline will begin service from Flint (FNT) to Orlando International Airport (MCO) on 10 February 2027, followed a day later by flights to Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), which serves the Fort Myers area. Both routes are planned as year-round additions rather than limited seasonal links, extending the range of direct Florida options available from the Michigan airport.
The expansion also includes more flying on two existing Allegiant routes. Service between Flint and Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) is scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 February 2027, while the St. Pete-Clearwater route via St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) is set to operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays beginning 11 February.
For passengers, the changes add both destination choice and additional scheduling flexibility during the late-winter period, when Florida remains a major leisure draw for travellers from colder northern U.S. markets. Orlando brings direct access to Central Florida’s theme parks, resorts and convention market, while Fort Myers provides a gateway to Southwest Florida and Gulf Coast destinations.
Allegiant advertised introductory one-way fares from $69 on both of the newly announced routes for tickets purchased by 2 September 2026. The airline said seats and dates at the promotional price are limited and that the fare is not available on every flight. Drew Wells, Allegiant’s chief commercial officer, said the added flying is intended to give Michigan travellers more flexibility and value when planning trips to Florida. The carrier’s network strategy is built around nonstop leisure routes linking smaller and mid-sized communities with high-demand vacation markets rather than requiring connections through large hubs.
The move is also significant for Flint Bishop International Airport, where Allegiant operates a base. Nino Sapone, the airport’s chief executive officer, described the new Orlando and Fort Myers links as an expansion of the airport’s Florida offering and said the year-round schedule would give travellers across Mid-Michigan more options.
