(NEWS) ALGIERS, Algeria, 2026-Oct-03 — /Travel PR News/ — Algeria’s Ministry of Tourism and Traditional Industry is moving ahead with plans for a new digital tourism promotion project with Italian partners, aiming to give the country’s destinations and travel experiences a stronger international online presence. The initiative was discussed in Algiers on 1 October during a meeting led by Tourism Minister Houria Meddahi, according to an official ministry update.
The proposed cooperation centres on the My Temple Art platform and involves Verona-based CK Cooperation S.r.l.. Meddahi received Ben Ajoud Karim, the company’s Algerian representative based in Verona, alongside Gianni Paschietto, the Italian general manager connected with the platform and described by the ministry as an entrepreneur and information-technology specialist.
The meeting followed a technical working session between ministry officials and representatives of the Italian company. That earlier discussion reviewed Algeria’s tourism assets and how digital tools could present them more effectively to domestic and international audiences.
A broader digital showcase for Algeria’s tourism offer
According to the ministry, the project is intended to promote a wide range of tourism segments, including desert travel, spa and therapeutic tourism, cultural and ecological tourism, beach holidays and spiritual tourism. The emphasis is on creating a digital presence that reflects the breadth of Algeria’s tourism offer rather than focusing on a single destination or travel product.
Meddahi said the ministry wants to use Italian expertise in digital tourism promotion as part of Algeria’s wider digital-transformation agenda. She also linked the project to the contribution of Algerians living abroad, highlighting the role of diaspora expertise in supporting tourism development and international destination promotion.
The ministry said the participants agreed to work toward implementing the promotional project with involvement from different tourism-sector stakeholders. Paschietto, representing the Italian side, said there was readiness to cooperate on the project and contribute to its financing. The announcement did not set out a launch date, budget or detailed technical specifications for the platform.
Digital promotion builds on earlier Algeria-Italy tourism discussions
The project also fits into a broader pattern of tourism cooperation between Algeria and Italy. In May, Meddahi met an Italian-Algerian parliamentary friendship delegation and identified tourism innovation, digital marketing, skills development and investment as areas for closer cooperation. The ministry’s account of that meeting also referenced the tourism memorandum of understanding signed by the two countries in Rome in 2022.
Digitalisation has become an increasingly visible part of Algeria’s tourism strategy. At SITEV 2026, the ministry highlighted the use of modern technologies, artificial intelligence, booking platforms and digital marketing in the local tourism ecosystem, while also drawing attention to the role of startups and Algerian talent based abroad.
If developed as outlined, the My Temple Art initiative could give travellers another digital route for discovering Algeria’s varied tourism experiences while giving local tourism operators and destinations a wider promotional channel. Its eventual impact will depend on how the platform is implemented, which stakeholders are brought into the project and how broadly its content and services are made available.
