(NEWS) KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, 2026-Sep-28 — /Travel PR News/ — AirAsia has added two regional travel-industry awards to its record in its 25th anniversary year, taking honours for both its low-cost airline operation and cabin crew at the World Travel Awards Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean 2026.
The airline was named Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline 2026 for the 14th time and Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew 2026 for the 10th consecutive year at the awards ceremony in the Maldives, according to an AirAsia announcement published September 28.
The two honours arrive as AirAsia marks 25 years of operations. The airline says its network now covers more than 130 destinations across Asia, Australia and beyond, and that it has carried close to one billion passengers since its development into a major regional low-cost carrier.
Cabin crew recognition reaches a decade
The cabin crew award extends an uninterrupted winning run in that category to 10 years. Suhaila Hassan, AirAsia Group Head of Cabin Crew, attributed the recognition to the professionalism and care of the airline’s crew and also pointed to the carrier’s recently introduced hijab option for female cabin crew as part of its approach to workforce inclusivity.
AirAsia also linked the award to the scale of its Kuala Lumpur operation. Citing the OAG Megahubs 2026 report, the airline said it accounts for 34% of flights at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL). The same OAG index placed KUL fourth among the world’s most connected international megahubs and first among low-cost megahubs.
The awards add another measure of industry and consumer recognition as AirAsia continues to expand connectivity through network growth and partnerships. The airline has positioned affordability alongside service and regional reach as central elements of its operating model.
World Travel Awards draws industry and consumer votes
The World Travel Awards programme has operated for more than three decades, recognising companies and organisations across travel and tourism. According to the award organiser, winners are determined through voting by travel-industry professionals and consumers.
Graham E. Cooke, President and Founder of World Travel Awards, congratulated AirAsia on the two honours and highlighted its low-cost model, connectivity and the contribution of its employees to the passenger experience.
For AirAsia, the latest results extend two established award records while the carrier continues to build its network across Southeast Asia and wider international markets.
