Air Partner’s Tyrone Smith to attempt to climb the highest mountain in the Southern and Western hemispheres in support of Pilgrims Hospice in East Kent

GATWICK, UK, 2015-2-9 — /Travel PR News/ — Air Partner employee Tyrone Smith is currently travelling to Argentina to attempt to climb the highest mountain in the Southern and Western hemispheres, Mount Aconcagua. Tyrone, who is Sales Manager in the Private Jets division at Air Partner, a leading provider of air charter services to governments, corporates and high net worth individuals, intends to carry the company flag with him to the very summit, which stands at 6,960 metres above sea level.

This will be the third summit to which Tyrone has successfully carried the flag in order to raise money for Pilgrims Hospice in East Kent, in memory of his mother, who sadly passed away. To date, he has raised £7,800 by climbing Mont Blanc in 2013 and Mount Kilimanjaro in 2014; if he succeeds in reaching the top of Aconcagua, he then plans to take on the mighty Mount Everest in 2016, and reach his target of £100,000 in the process.

Should Tyrone be successful on this third climb, he will have climbed 57,956 feet –nearly one and a half times the average altitude at which a private jet flies (41,000 feet). If he goes on to scale Everest in 2016, he will have climbed a grand total of 86,985 feet, which is well over double the height.

Commenting on his back-breaking mission, Tyrone said: ‘It is very humbling to have the support from Air Partner; I feel lucky enough to be in a position to give back to such a worthwhile cause. It’s my way of keeping close to my mum; I know she is willing me on.’

Simon Wheatley, Director of the Private Jets division at Air Partner, said: “Air Partner is extremely proud of Tyrone and what he has achieved. We are delighted that we have been able to support him by paying for his flights out to Argentina and we are all rooting for him to get to the top of Aconcagua and, hopefully, Everest next year. We are all doing our best to help him get closer to his target on his JustGiving page.”
