AH&LEF LAUNCHES 19th ANNUAL BIG APPLE AUCTION ONLINE

Washington, 2012-11-03 — /travelprnews.com/ —  The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation (AH&LEF) annual Big Apple Auction, which includes more than 350 items, is live (www.ahlef.org).  The auction will remain open for bidding through Tuesday, November 13, at 3 pm (EDT).

Held in conjunction with the International Hotel, Motel + Restaurant Show (IHMRS), at booth #3157 in the Javits Convention Center in New York City, the Big Apple Auction features items donated by lodging properties, CEOs, suppliers, show exhibitors, and other industry supporters. Items include a full-page advertisement provided by USA TODAY valued at $125,600; more than 260 vacation packages from properties around the country; and products ranging from mattresses to unique gift baskets.

If you are attending the show, visit the auction booth, starting Sunday, November 11.  Easy-to-use kiosks allow you to peruse items and place a bid. In addition, AH&LA members can follow the auction by downloading the new AH&LA app through their device’s app store or www.mobile.ahla.com.

Last year’s auction generated more than $100,000 in proceeds, which benefit the AH&LEF, the charitable fund-raising and endowed fund-management subsidiary of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA).  Since its inception, the AH&LEF has disbursed more than $16 million through its scholarship, education, outreach, and research programs.

“The AH&LEF Big Apple Auction is one of our most popular and successful fundraising events and we are looking forward to another great year,” said Joori Jeon, CPA, CAE, AH&LEF president/COO.  “We are fortunate to have some fabulous items, so please bid high and bid often.”

For more information about the auction, including donating items, contact Michelle Poinelli, senior vice president of foundation programs, at (202) 289-3181 or access the online auction.
