ADAC Concludes its Staff Summer Safety and Heat Awareness Campaign

Part of ADAC’s commitment to operate at optimum safety and security standards

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 2012-09-02 — /travelprnews.com/ —  As part of its commitment to operate under optimum safety and security standards, Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) ran its comprehensive summer safety and heat awareness campaign, over a period of four months, for its employees and contractors who work outdoors during the day.

The campaign, which started in May 2012, aimed to continue raising awareness regarding the health risks associated with working under the direct heat and the preventive measures that can be taken to minimise the impact of rising temperatures, which are known to reach as high as 45 degrees Celsius.

The multifaceted campaign, comprised of awareness sessions that were delivered through the Gulf Centre for Aviation Studies (GCAS), the training arm for Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), were provided to employees in Arabic, English, Urdu, and Hindi at Abu Dhabi International Airport, Al Ain International Airport and at Al Bateen Executive Airport.

During the campaign, heat mitigating gear was distributed to all employees and contractors working outdoors. Access to drinking water points were also increased to ensure accessibility by outdoor workers. Awareness posters and leaflets explaining day to day steps everyone should take were distributed on site to employees, particularly those working outdoors.

Mohammed Al Katheeri, Vice President Quality Assurance & Environment, Health & Safety, commented: “ADAC continuously strives for high standards in safety compliance and seeks to maintain a secure and hazard free work environment. The comprehensive campaign is fundamental to ADAC’s objectives of becoming the employer of choice in the aviation industry within the UAE and the region and demonstrates the company’s commitment to operate in line with optimum safety and security standards.”

He added: “The campaign is also aligned with the ministerial decision and the Department of Transport (DoT) EHSMS requirements to ensure the safety and wellbeing of employees.”
