Wizz Air to sponsor the Skopje Marathon in partnership with the city of Skopje

Skopje, Macedonia, 2014-2-28 — /Travel PR News/ — Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, today announced the new title sponsorship of the Skopje Marathon in partnership with the city of Skopje. It is the first time  that the Skopje Marathon has added a partner to its name. It will be held on 11 May as the Wizz Air Skopje Marathon. The contract was signed by József Váradi, the CEO of Wizz Air and Gjorgi Kuzmanovski, the President of Skopje Sport Association for duration of three years.

Since the beginning of the competition in 2004 there has been a growing interest among the participants and this year it is already the 10th occasion to hold this event in the heart of the Macedonian capital. In 2013, for the first time, close to 5.000 runners have participated in the event from 36 countries and for 2014 it is expected that this record will be broken in May.

Speaking in Skopje today, József Váradi, CEO of Wizz Air, said: “Wizz Air aims at stimulating air traffic in 35 countries and today we celebrate Wizz Air’s commitment and hometown presence in Macedonia. Over the past 2.5 years we have continuously developed our operations, our fleet and route network. In April 2014 we will have our second aircraft joining the Macedonian base and 4 new routes to start operations to Paris, Brussels, Cologne and Frankfurt. We at Wizz Air believe in mobility and active living. Our low fares have enabled over 370 thousand Macedonians to travel in 2013 for work or leisure and it is a fitting partnership to unite the Wizz Air brand with Skopje marathon. It is roughly 70 days left until the race and I call on all Macedonians to tighten their shoelaces and run the Wizz Air Skopje Marathon.”
