Virgin Trains becomes the new sponsor of Doncaster Rovers’ training kit

London, 2017-Feb-20 — /Travel PR News/ — Virgin Trains is giving Doncaster Rovers fans the chance to win a match day to remember as it kicks off its partnership with the football club.

Virgin Trains has become the new sponsor of Rovers’ training kit which is worn by the players on match days.

And to mark the start of its partnership with the Sky Bet League Two leaders it will provide two tickets to Rovers’ match at Wycombe Wanderers on 22 April – with complimentary First Class rail travel for two included.

Andrew Whitham, head of commercial at Doncaster Rovers, said: “This partnership promises to be particularly fruitful for supporters as we look to develop offers which can really benefit fans.

“In Doncaster Rovers, Virgin Trains has identified a club that is on the up and can provide a range of opportunities to expose its brand, not only to the people of Doncaster but throughout the UK.

“It is extremely exciting to be working with a company that has such a strong record in football, and we look forward to exploring the many possibilities that await through this partnership.

“We expect demand for tickets for the Wycombe match to be high. Travelling south in style with Virgin Trains should add to the sense of occasion for our supporters.”

Rovers’ leading goal scorer John Marquis, who is a frequent user of Virgin Trains, added: “This is terrific news. Virgin Trains have always been my first choice as I commute to visit my family. They offer fantastic service and make it much easier for me to visit my family and friends.”

Natasha Wilding, general manager for Virgin Trains on its east coast route, said: “We’re delighted to sponsor the training shirts and become Doncaster Rovers’ latest signing!

“Virgin Trains is proud to support customers and communities on its route, and Doncaster is a very important part of this railway, with direct links to many destinations, including both of the UK’s capital cities.

“We’re exploring how we can take this partnership forward and, in the meantime, are pleased to kick this off through our competition to win a memorable match day experience for two lucky supporters.”

Doncaster station deputy team leader Lindsey Hudson, who follows Rovers with her train driver husband Gary when they are not working for Virgin Trains, added: “This is a real community club and people from the town are very proud of it. It’s great that Virgin Trains has started to work with it to support our club and our community.”

To enter the competition, fans just need to email supporterservices@clubdoncaster.co.uk by 17.00 on Friday 24 March, and provide the name of the Rovers player who regularly uses Virgin Trains to visit his family.
