The camp offers a 1920’s vintage safari atmosphere. The original gracious homestead has been beautifully restored and is filled with the history of legendary Harry Kirkman. Set in one of the most renowned Big Five private reserves in the world, guests will experience exciting, interpretive game drives with highly skilled &Beyond -trained rangers and trackers. Boasting a high density of leopards, sightings and photographic opportunities in the Sabi Sand are excellent.
Each of the 18 charming suites overlook the bushveld, while lawns surround the lodge, safari shop and rim flow swimming pool. A spacious lounge and a guest bar area contain original mementos and photographs from the homestead.
Families are welcome at &Beyond Kirkman’s Kamp, and the structured children’s programme will keep children busy for hours. &Beyond’s rangers and trackers are specially trained to look after children and their needs. Rangers will help them collect pods, feathers, bugs and leaves and teach them to identify different animal species, taking children on special “Pooh Walks” where they are taught to identify droppings and spoor. There are also fishing and frogging safaris (safety and weather permitting) and bark-rubbing expeditions, as well as visits to the garage to oversee vehicle repairs and lessons in making waxed spoor prints, which can be taken home.
Babysitting facilities are also available to give parents a much-needed break whilst enjoying twice daily game drives, or an in-room massage.Ends
